Disgrace
The Roaring Twenties: A History from Beginning to End, published by Hourly History, is a short, forty-seven-page book. This book needed to be longer. It seems overly rushed. It also left out information about this period. It is a disgrace for a history book to be treated liked this. There was some information in the book that I questioned, and there is no reference section in it. Regardless of its length, a work of nonfiction needs references! For all these reasons, I give this book one out of five stars.

Repeats itself an awful lot.
Again, this is not history. It is a brief social science overview of the 1920s that frankly reads like a high school term paper. The politics of the era is covered by mention of the Volstead act and speakeasies. There is no discussion of the League of Nations, the economic difficulties of World War 1 veterans, or any of the political scandals of the decade. Although there were vast struggles by unions and violence in response by united employers and police forces, these struggles are not even mentioned. But the worst part of this thing is that it fails to follow any sort of timeline, simply jumping around and repeating itself.

Well worth the read.
This brief book covered a lot of ground. The Roaring Twenties was the era that began at the end of World War I and lasted until the stock market crash and the Great Depression in 1929. The book touched on the following topics: new technologies such as automobiles and radio and movies, women gained the right to vote, social changes in minority groups, prohibition and speakeasies, Jazz music, art deco, gangsters, flappers, the many other industries that grew with the automobile industry, aviation and Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart, medical advances, and the stock market crash. In the end I felt that this book was a very good review and while it was brief and unable to delve into great detail it was sort of like the Spark Notes of that decade. Well worth the read.

Concise
Quite a challenge to condense ten tumultuous years into an hour's read.Unfortunately, some of the 'hour' is wasted in needless repetition of some facts. The 'book' touches on diverse aspects of considerable change following WWI - and refers to changes outside the USA.It certainly was an era of change and made for an interesting read.

Setting The Stage
Regardless whether one approves of or is in disagreement with the changes that have transpired in the last century, there is no question that the 1920s did play a pivotal role in where we are today. I definitely appreciated this look at this time in the world since it was during this time period when my parents were born and raised so it helped me appreciate even more my own roots.

he roaring twenties, more than speskeasies, flapper and jazz.
An insightful read about the rise and fall of the lifestyles of the 1920s. The aftermath of world war 1 brought many changes to the economy and lifestyles of the Americsn people. This book does a good job to point out the cause and affect of many of the conditions of the 1920s decade.

Loved It!
This Hourly History snapshot gave me, the reader. a glimpse of the wonderful era that followed the horror and upset of World War I. Were it possible, I think that is the era I would have preferred to live in. Lacking many of our modern conveniences, it was still an era of freedom and fun!

Wartime vs Economy
Very solid book, and as close to a 5 star rating as I am inclined to give, this short book is a great overview of a time period in American History few know anything about! Very nicely written and one thing that comes shining through is the fact that wartime and the American economy seem to be intertwined in some fashion. The 20s ended in the Great Depression and the economy was basically saved by another World War!

Cuts to the chase.
Excellent account of the 1920's without the need for useless information. Includes everything needed to understand the roaring twenties by anyone requiring information for further studies or just general interest. A very interesting book.

a superficial account which made an exiting subject quite boring.
Repetitive. The same facts were repeated over four times in a very short book. Generally, a superficial account which made an exiting subject quite boring.
