Honestly when I read a brief summary of the Last Hunter I wasn’t sure this book was for me.Boy was I wrong and glad of it.A great story, turns myths upside down with a new take on the Gods of old.A great read.

Takes a bit to get going, but...
Solomon, first human born in Antarctica returns to the wasteland of snow and ice to find his roots. What he discovered is far from home. Far from himself. Good story but takes a while to get going. You won't be disappointed!

Absolutely Amazing and Fantastic
From my wife Sarah: Others have described the story, so I'll get right to it:This is possibly my favorite scifi/fantasy series of all time, and it's definitely in the top 3. It was one of the most creative, imaginative, intriguing, exciting and moving book series I've ever read, and I read a lot. I simply couldn't put the books down, literally. I was reading anywhere I could. I completed the 5 books in this series in less than two weeks. Here are some of the reasons I enjoyed the series:- The story is really exciting, and it's very original. I've never read anything quite like it.- It's got depth. Without being preachy in any way, it subtly teaches positive values like faithfulness, forgiveness, the value of life, trust, using wisdom...- It's full of intense edge of your seat action.- The characters are so fully developed and deep that you feel you know them. I was actually sad when the series ended.- It's full of fantasy elements, but it makes it seem absolutely possible and realistic.- In a totally interesting and captivating way, it weaves in things like science, geography, world religious history.- The writing is just fantastic - it leads you to vividly live this story in your imagination. It's definitely at least as good a read as the Hunger Games series by the way.It does have a lot of violence and battle, and the main character is kidnapped as a child. So if you're choosing for your child, this is something to consider.I would personally say that it's good for young teens and up. It's certainly a great choice for adults as well.

for teens - But Punches harder than the Hunger Games!
If you have read any of Jeremy's books, then you know the awesome flavor he deals out on the page. His books have big action with relatable characters who fight fantasy monsters, The monsters are grounded enough in some reality that they come out hardcore and never corny. The plots are the same. They are roller coaster rides but intelligently done so you are never taken out of the story. This book, unlike his others, is not as gory, has no cussing, and no adult romance. Still, hits as hard as his other books. It never feels like it's sanitized or that he's pulling punches. You are right there and get all the "butt" kicking you expect from this style of book. I know he planed this as a YA book, but it reads as if it just happened to work out that way. This is a great book to pick up, especially for Boys, who have run out of Hunger Games books. It's also about a teen boy, who is a strong male character with out having to be sexiest or superficially macho. I love the idea here. He is trying to fight between being the savage killer and being a real person. If you are at all into thriller (for adults, kids, or teens) You should pick this up.If the thing you liked about Hunger Games was the Twilight style romance and just endured the rest of it to find out what happened with that Bread Guy... then pick out a different book.

What a ride
The plot, pacing, and writing was pulled off beautifully with The Last Hunter. As I began to read it I though "how is the writer going to pull this all together?" and then as I continued to read it, it just pulled together well, not even a hitch when they reach the frozen, unforgiving land of Antarctica.I kept thinking "why the heck does he want to go THERE?" through the beginning, kind of in the way you might think when you see "Silent Hill"...whyyyy? But I thought it was a really interesting idea that Solomon had been born there and there was some creepy, horrific, strangely lonesome destiny for him and I couldn't stop reading it once I started. His food choices made me cringe (not like he had much of a choice) and I was surprised how quickly he adapted to Antarctica. A scene pops out at me still. "Crybaby." You'll know what I mean when you read it.I liked how it ended. I'm anxious for another one in the series already :)Great story. Great book. I enjoyed reading it.

Sooo glad I read this!
When I first read about this series I didn't think I would like it. I held off on getting it till I was finished with the others. Got the first one and immediately got the rest. This series blew me away, I loved it. What I thought was going to be more of a young adult series was one of the best I have ever read. It sucked me in, I loved each character and couldn't wait for more. Antarktos Rising was the first book of Robinson's I read and what got me hooked, this series sealed the deal. It's beautiful in its detail, funny, full of adventure and a great story. I encourage you to check these out. It is one of my favorite all time series, it is sooooooo good.

Decent Thriller
The Last Hunter book 1 was alright. The excitement was high and I read it quickly. I really thought that the author did a great job with suspense and action. However, anything past action fell flat. I never grew any attachment to the main character, Solomon. His transition into Ull only left me confused about his personality. The character Solomon did not grow...he just was someone else. It was strange and I didn't understand until far too late what was happening.I will not be reading the rest of this series. Although I did like this book, I am not attached. Good read for those looking for an escape into a fantasy world of action and adventure, not so much for those readers who want to be moved or who want their books to change a little part of who they are.

Romping monster fest
Great read. Plenty of action for what I assumed was a teen read. Already bought the others so will crack on.

something different
I enjoyed this book. The story started slow, but if you persevere you will be rewarded with an interesting story. I will certainly read the next novel, to see what happens to the main characters. If you like a fantasy thriller, this will be a great read for you.

Awful
I had high hopes for this as I had read and enjoyed another of Jeremy Robinson's books. This was just silly and I didn't like the tense it was written in (present tense) I don't know why it just annoyed me. I flicked through the book rather than reading it properly and I won't be buying the sequels.
