Good
First in a six book series, and this particular book doesn’t have any real romance because it’s a slow burn romance over the course of the series.India Alexis Sabado is a recently married nineteen year old. Her education is eclectic- because she was unschooled: basically an interest directed learning experience with a series of mentors (I only wish my kids had had access to mentors like hers!). As one of her family friends said, she can do martial arts but she can’t do the Pythagorean theorem. The first half of the book is world building. We learn a lot about Lexi and her skill set, but she refuses to ask the elite group Inquus (with whom she has a connection through one of her mentors) for help with the stalker, even as he escalates. It takes place over a number of months, with some confusing time jumps at times. The second half of the book follows after she has survived an attack, and introduces the Inquus group, including Striker, the leader of the team assigned to protect her. It has a much more condensed timeline with fewer time jumps.Lexi is, as others mentioned, very accomplished for her age, and a rather perfect heroine. She has psychic abilities, is a reiki master, accomplished martial artist (though not ranked), can cook worth a dream, and is gifted at observation and puzzle solving. The list goes on, and is a result of her unusual education.Despite being a ‘perfect’ heroine, she is far from perfect. She makes bad decisions, and is sometimes a bit too secretive for her own good.Despite it all, she’s an interesting and quite likeable character, and very entertaining to read about. The book ends on a book-hook cliffhanger which lines up the beginning of the following book.A good paranormal suspense series starter, with an interesting heroine.

Book one in series
Liked the plot and the characters but it moved a little slowly for me. Needs to move a little faster.

This story sucked me right in. I couldn't stop.
Lexi is orphaned a year before the story takes place and a fire forces her out of an apartment building where she's lived as part of a close-knit community all her life. She's been unschooled. By that, the author means she hasn't gone to traditional school, but has instead been tutored by and has apprenticed with many people. Some of these people she calls her Grandma's. They're six elderly women of different ethnic backgrounds who teach her different languages and cultures. Other tutors are more specialized, such as her training to fly airplanes, her martial arts training by Master Wang, or her training by Spyder, a special undercover operative of a group called Iniquus.Lexi also has some special psychic and supernatural abilities. She can perform Reiki, which is a method of healing using energy transformation, she has psychic 'knowings', she can perform simple searches for lost things, and most startling of all, she can go 'beyond the veil'. I'm not going to tell you what that is, but let me just say, it is freaking cool. It happens during the most shocking climax of the book.Spyder recognizes that Lexi is a genius operative in the making as a young teen between her unorthodox education, her martial arts training and her supernatural abilities. She becomes his secret weapon and puzzles out complex crime scenarios to find the truth. All of this so far is background and as you can see, it's very rich. The story really starts the day after Lexi's wedding. It opens with Lexi on her way to speak with her friend, a father figure, to tell him about a threatening note she received on her wedding day. She's near tears and scared out of her mind because her husband left for service in Afghanistan that morning and she's alone. She didn't tell her husband about the threatening letter because she didn't want him focusing on her when his life was at stake on his own mission. She's never been the victim of a crime like this, or involved in dangerous situations before. She's only lent her mind to puzzle out the crimes against other people. The person she really needs to speak with is Spyder, but he's been undercover for about a year and a half after the last big case she puzzled out. She hasn't heard from him and though he suggested she go to a man named Striker if she has problems, she is independent enough not to want to get their help. Since she's been working directly in secret with Spyder, she doesn't even think they will believe her. Well, after more threatening notes she realizes she's being stalked by a crazed serial killer.I can't really tell you more without giving away major plot points. The story covers some brutal scenes and holds a strong thread of romance. This is a phenomenal story. We have a serial killer, a team of hunky special operatives, supernatural powers, a genius heroine, and romance. What more can you possibly want? You can want the next two books in the series and more that the author hasn't even written yet. And you will. You will want it bad . . .

Works up to a good story
The first 1/3 of this book is kind of slow. Once you reach the tipping point, the action jumps off the page. And so does the possible chemistry between Striker and Lexi. The suspense of Lexi being found and if she is going to start something with Striker are edge of your seat. Can’t wait to read the next one!

Wow, was this a wild ride.
But you definitely need to have an open mind going into this book, otherwise Lexi will drive you nuts. At twenty she has more skills, talents and abilities than the average special forces guys. I might have bought into it more if she had of been in her late twenties or thirties, but no, this superwoman warrior shaman is barely out of her teens. That being said, once I embraced the chaos this was actually a great read. The ongoing stalking was intriguing and suspenseful and unlike a lot of female protagonists, she did suffer the consequences of hers and others actions. I was a little unsure about her Crossing the Veil, but it was very creepy and dramatic. Wish I’d read this before the other series (Harper and Ridge’s story) where Lynx’s abilities are just thrown in your face with no context and it just threw off that whole reading experience.Definitely read this book at least before picking up other Iniquus books.

A great first read
I liked this book it was fast paced and action packed even though a little disjointed at times it came together in the end and I'm excited to see were future books go.The one thing I didn't get was Angel ?? why was he even in the story that didn't make sense especially when he wasn't actually in the story he was just mentioned.I love Striker and Jack ok I love all the guys on 'save Lexi team' they are all uniquely awesome.Lexi is an interesting character coming from an unschooled background which as an unschooling Mum I applaud lol to finding her niche in intelligence work and all at such a young age I can't wait to see where her character goes from here

Breathtaking
This book was amazing, when I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it, the plot, the bad guy, the good guys, it kept me awake through the night. I'm so glad I finished it. I must now read the next book in the series as these stories are seriously addictive.

Targeted....unglued, unraveled and lost
Powerful start to the series, this book is a lot! You will have to concentrate, it is not light reading...but if you like super smart, feisty and slightly quirky women with many hidden talents, sexy, super hot special forces teams and a twisted puzzle to make your brain melt then this is the book for you.Intriguing and suspenseful to dark and haunting this will put you through an emotional wringer but equally there are uplifting, lighthearted moments and I love the bond that Lexi forms with 'her team' especially Striker and Jack, as harrowing as the experience the three of them share is, Lynx is born and the eighth member of the team is cemented. I read this on Kindle Unlimited and I loved it!

absolutely brilliant
This series is amazing. I cannot remember the last time I was as engaged as I have been reading this series. You find yourself really sucked into the story as if it is real. You laugh you worry and yes you cry. If I could I would give an ten star for this
