Heidi Poelman and Jason Pruett have combined their considerable talents to create a delightful, illustrated alphabet book hitting store shelves this month.A Is For Abinadi is a must-have treasure parents will want to pack in their Church bags, and grandparents will want on their shelves when reading moments occur. Packed with colorful scriptural scenes organized alphabetically by the name of the hero, A Is For Abinadi offers multiple opportunities for learning and play. From the authors:A is for apple but also for Abinadi! Teach your children about some of the greatest heroes in the scriptures with this beautifully illustrated alphabet book. They will love searching for items that represent each letter while they get to know heroes like Captain Moroni and Esther. Along with learning their ABCs, your children will learn to recognize and love these great Book of Mormon and Bible examples. There is plenty here to launch great teaching moments on gospel themes. Poelman chose great heroes from both male and female scriptural characters. Her short story text is written in easy language, capturing the essence of these beloved Biblical and Book of Mormon characters and stories. Poelman's captions also reinforce values and positive character traits.Pruett's bright, engaging illustrations provide a beautiful palette from which to teach the same lessons visually. There are stories within each picture as readers examine the enticing details Pruett adds to reveal the subjects' character. The Biblical hero Uriah looks anything but heroic, and yet, quivering knees and all, he is fighting for his king, his country, and his people. Imagine the wonderful discussions that picture could launch on the idea of what true courage really is.But there is still more. Teach the alphabet using the names of the featured heroes, and search for other things on the page that start with the same letter. Play "I Spy," reinforce colors, and let your little one practice his or her own storytelling skills by telling you what they see on each page. This book is a treasury of activity that will add reverence and entertainment to your family.A Is For Abinadi is available at Amazon for $10.79 in hardback. You can also download this delightful book to your Kindle or iPad for $5.99. I'm giving hardback copies to my grandchildren, and downloading the Kindle version so I have a better alternative when grandchildren ask to play on my iPad.

Cute and clever!
I like this book which just barely arrived. I’d never seen it before and it really is quite clever! Besides having the featured alphabet person or item, you can see a few other fun items totally unrelated to the subject, but that also begin with that letter like Zoram has a zebra in the room. Wacky I know, but this actually kind of adds a quirky charm to the book!

Knowledge for kids!
A fun well written book to explain about a prophet Abinadi in the Book of Mormon. I enjoyed reading it too. I purchased it for my 11 year old granddaughter. She likes the book too! Thank you. 😊

This book is cleverly, intelligently, and appropriately written with delightful illustrations.
I love this book! I just wish it was available when I was raising my children. My plan is to give this book to each of my grandchildren and give it as a children/baby gift at every opportunity I'm given. It's not very often you can just know a book will be appreciated by just about everyone. It's intelligently and cleverly written in a way children can understand. It's also fun for children and adults to find all the objects that start with each letter of the alphabet. It's a book where you feel like you've learned something new or have been reminded of something that's important to remember. I appreciate how it doesn't talk down to children; it assumes children can understand the stories or principles presented. The illustrations are fun, colorful, entertaining, and thoughtful. I would highly recommend this book to all the people I know and I look forward to seeing more books from this author in the future!

Geared for reading kids.
This book is great but not what I thought it would be. My son is almost 3 and he loves the look and find books. I thought I found a religious version of those awesome fun books but it's not quite the same. The section that tells you what to find is just words not a picture of what you're looking for. It's nice because it points out details of the stories and helps the kids to remember them while still having fun. It's just geared more for age 6 and up. Kids who read well not toddlers. I prefer that it have a picture of what my child is trying to find. This was disappointing but I gave it to my nephew and niece (11&6) and they love it. So it's a good product just wish I'd known it wasn't quite the same as the look and find books.

A is for Abinadi - a captivating gem
A is for Abinadi is a captivating gem. Each story, beginning with colorful illuminated font, reminds us of the faith and courage exhibited by the men and women of the scriptures. The illustrations are imaginative, the colors are vivid, and each subject has its own distinct character and personality, the fearless Abinadi, the happy lion line dancing with Daniel, and the wide-eyed elephant watching Eve and the serpent in the garden scene. There are surprise images on each page for a child to discover. Heidi and Jason have done a wonderful job bringing these stories of faith, prophets, and heroic women in the scriptures to life.

Fun for babies, funny for parents
Love it! My baby is 13 months, and even though he can't talk yet, the colorful pictures keep his attention while I read the words. We made it all the way to M last night before the wiggles started! I also love the characters they chose, and laugh at their jokes. My husbands favorite is probably the Nephi page. Anyway, great book! My favorite religious themed book, I might add.
