Grip and control second to none.
Might be one of the last people to ride Maxxis. I ride fast and technical trails and these tires never let me down. Dry or wet these tires stay on track here in the rocky California clay.I was hesitant with the speed rating but I haven't noticed any loss of speed. It's the cornering that set these tires apart. I keep pushing and they keep holding. Climbing up rocks and roots even when wet these tire outperform any tire I've ever ridden.If you can't tell I love these tires. This my third Assegai, I won't be riding anything else.

Wow!
I replaced my Maxxis Minion DHR EXO/TR 29x2.3 tubeless with this Assegai 2.5 DH casing tire. Yeah its heavy. But its also a thing of beauty. I consider the Minion something of an industry-best/standard. Side by side with a Minion DHR, this tire has a little more closely spaced knobs - still plenty of room in between - that are noticeably higher than the Minion. On soft stuff you are going to stick to the ground beautifully.The thick DH casing is what it is. For me, a bigger rider, its a benefit on multiple fronts. Interestingly I fought to get the tire onto my DT FR560 rims, which are 30mm interior width, and the tires fit so tightly I was able to air them up with no sealant, and the tire stayed aired up. Beside that saying I have good rim tape, its a testament to this tire being not just 'tubeless ready' but if you are smart, 'tubeless only'. No reason in the world to put an inner tube inside such a well-fitting, substantial tire.

Best tire I’ve ever used by far. Used dhf for a long time and I love that tire but this new assegai is amazing. Traction traction traction. Feels like the bike is in rails. I know everyone says it’s a heavy tire, and it is definitely heavy. But The trade off is worth it all the way. Will definitely buy again,

Great tyres but rather heavy.
Traction, cornering are great. A wee bit heavy for trail riding, my own fault I wasn't watching closely what I ordered...DD down hill. On a bright side I plan on doing a lot more down hill next year so these will work great.
