Fine for mid-range minimalists, but make sure of the parameters you desire.
After a quick evaluation I can see that this unit has more limitations than I expected. I didn't look closely enough in my original assessment. The restrictions are clearly listed and you need to think it through better than I did. You cannot test a battery below 6 volts, so all small batteries are not in your range. I did realize it couldn't test above 18 amp hr batteries, but that was my upper limit I ever test. It still seems to perform a quick evaluation on a common 12 volt gel batt at 7 amp very quickly & is far better than using a simple volt meter. 13.1 volts on a 12 volt panel battery actually tells you very little about that batt's future capabilities not to mention current condition. Otherwise it seems to be capable of it's listings.

Okay for what it is.
I suppose it works. It does not leave me with a feeling of confidence in the readings. Since I have no other option I cannot say if this is a good product or not.

Good product.
Works very well. Just make sure you don't check large AH batteries.

Basic battery load tester
Very basic load tester for 6 and 12 volt lead acid batteries that are common in alarm systems and emergency lighting. It’s a DC voltmeter with an internal load. You connect it to the battery and watch the voltage under load and make your own determinations on battery condition. It’s not the most comprehensive tester but its readings will give you a basic idea if your battery is good or bad. A battery that is bad will quickly collapse under load. A battery that is good will stay above or just below it’s fully charged voltage (12.6 volts, etc). Takes some learning. For a more comprehensive tester I recommend the ACT tester, that will tell you the actual amp-hours the battery can deliver. But this is an excellent quick troubleshooting tool, as I work in the alarm system trade and bad batteries can cause other apparent issues. Mine is pretty beat up for having been used for 8 years but is one of my few Triplett tools that is still chugging along.
