Who knew - ice trays matter!
The first time I had a "scotch cube" I was at a friend's house. I knew the moment he pulled the ice tray out of the fridge that I "had to have it," and as we sipped our Macallans and the ice melted oh-so-slowly and oh-so-perfectly, that opinion was only reinforced.Of course, I turned to Amazon to find it - and I'll admit, my eyes popped out of my head a little bit when I saw the hefty price - $17 for two ice cube trays - but I had enjoyed the scotch cube enough that I decided to cough up the dough anyway. These trays are very durable and make perfect 2" x 2" (2 inch by 2 inch) scotch cubes; however, over time I've found that these ice cubes are ideal for virtually EVERY ice need you have. I no longer even keep ice trays in my fridge - I just use these.Pros:* Best ice, EVER. Period. Nothing compares in terms of slow melt speed, ideal size, etc.* Easy to get out once you know how* High quality, durable trays - I've used my first set nearly every day for 4 months, and my second set (yes, I ordered another!) every day for 3 months.Cons:* There's a way to twist the try and push from underneath that makes the cube come out very easily, but until you get the hang of it it can be a little tricky* It can be a little difficult to fill: it's not ridged in quite the same way as a plastic ice tray, so you can't just pour from the center and let it flow out, so overflowing a few drops of water in each cube is not uncommon. Also, because it's flexible silicon, it's tricky to get into the freezer without spilling when full. That said, we really are just talking about a few drops of fresh water at a time - totally no big deal.Bottom Line:Yes, it has a couple of quirks. But the quality of the tray and the concept of 2x2 ice cubes simply cannot be beat. This is a must buy: not just for scotch drinkers, but for anyone who uses ice, period. The first time you try to take a cube out, it can be tricky

Fantastic product once you get the hang of it
No complaints here, just some notes. The ice cubes from these trays are large and impressive, each measuring about 2" x 2" with a tapered bottom that makes each cube easier to release from the tray but loses some surface area. One cube in 8 ounces of room temperature seltzer lasts a little over an hour and does a good job at keeping the drink cool. While the trays can stack, I found they didn't stack well when filled completely with water. This seems to be due to the silicone's lack of rigidity, which causes the top tray to sink a bit and push water out of the bottom tray. I've had better results freezing the trays side by side.Since the cubes form snugly in their cavities, I had some trouble removing them at first. I eventually found that pushing upward from the bottom of the tray (beneath each cube) works well to loosen, then just pull the cube up from the top of the tray once the cube is loosened enough. To clean, I've used dish soap and water (no dishwasher for my silicone). No complaints there, either.I don't use these cubes all the time, but have found them to be impressive with company or great for just relaxing on a quiet evening. The trays are a great purchase if you do any entertaining.

Say no to watered down drinks.
I use these in cocktails, but also in soda that has not been in the fridge. The big ice chunks cool the drinks a little slower than small cubes, but they melt extremely slow, sparing you from a watered down beverage. The rubber is very flexible so cubes pop out fairly easy. I've had them in use for about a month and like them. If you like drinks on the rocks, they work great. My drink of choice is whiskey old fashioned. I also have the ice ball molds. The balls are bigger and look more cool, but they are a pain the neck and you have to make a bunch in advance of a party. These cubes are smaller, but you can make 16 at a time. I find myself using the big cubes more often out of convenience. I like the product, its worked great for me and I recommend to friends.

and is perfect for higher quality liquors that you want to savor
I use these ice cube trays every day for my cocktail creations. The ice melts slower than traditional small cubes, and is perfect for higher quality liquors that you want to savor. Only downside is that I wish it were easier to get the cubes out. It takes some maneuvering and can be rough on the wrists, but once you get the hang of it it's easier. I find that starting in the middle and working my way toward the outer cubes is the way to go. Also, I don't notice any of the white floating residue in my drinks that other people complained about, but I think that's because the water in my area doesn't react with the silicone in that way. Some areas have hard water while others have soft, hence the different reactions. Thanks for a great product!

Awesome size ice cubes
I really like this product, fast shipping, ready to wash and use right out of the package. The pros: The ice cubes are substantial at 125cc each (5x5x5cm). One cube is good enough to nurse a 12oz drink for a relatively long time. Usually there is enough cube left over after you are done to refill the glass using the same cube and keep it going for another drink. The cons. The cubes are not the easiest to separate from the silicone tray, they need a bit of a push from the bottom to pop them up. The tray size is unique so you may find that you may have to rearrange your freezer box a little to fit the trays inside. Also, the silicone is somewhat flimsy so you must be careful transporting them after filling with water.Overall: You will find that the benefits easily outweigh the costs, as you can maintain more control over the ice with the silicone than with a standard plastic tray. I love the weighty ice cubes they can produce. The price may be a little steep, but you get what you pay for. A must for anyone who would appreciate a scotch, whiskey on the rocks, or really any ice cooled drink.
