Great cajon!
I’ve researched tons of cajons, and always hated how they sound thin, or weak, like beating on a thin cardboard box. I wanted one that would have a wide dynamic, like drums sort of. Then, I found this one. The bass rings nicely, and is a great contrast to the other variations of tone. Easy to use, light enough to take anywhere, expert quality and durable. Overall, a great value for the money. It’s even adjustable to an extent. I was looking for something to replace a drummer. Tall order. Once again, Meinl shows they are the top shelf of percussive tones.

MY FAVORITE CAJON!
This cajon sounds AMAZING! I have played dozens of cajon’s from many different manufacturers and I think this is the one to get and here’s why!Sound: Low end is excellent but not too overpowering. Snare sound is great but not the very best I’ve heard. Others I have played with a better snare sound had almost no low end but this cajon is pretty well balanced sound wise. Very rich and pleasant sound!Playability: this cajon’s sweet spot for that rich “kick” sound is higher on the front face then any cajon I have played which is so nice! I don’t have to bend or hunch way over to reach the bottom of the cajon just to get a solid thump. If your going to mic up your cajon often then you may want to consider getting one with a hole in the back as the mic will not be in the way as much, and looks cleaner on stage; but if your going to be using this more in an acoustic setting I totally recommend having the sound come out the front! It fills the room so much better and the sound isn’t so directional like a traditional cajon is.Fit/finish: It‘s excellent! Looks super classy and feels extremely solid. 10 out of 10 in this department! If your still reading this by now then you probably care as much about music and instrumentation as I do. I am personally very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to a friend or fellow musician. My guess is that you will like it as much as me especially if you're going to be using it in an acoustic setting and don't need the most amount of snare sound in the world. Hope this info helps someone out their deciding if this cajon is right for them.

Love the Cajon - Excellent Support
My son plays the cajon in our worship team and loves it. After about 1 year of regular use, a front plate screw tore through. He wanted to play it one more time and in doing so, a bunch of others tore out. He does play it a bit hard and doesn’t know his own strength.Reached out to support and I did finally hear back from meinlusa on the cajon. It just takes a little time to hear back from them. They will be replacing the front plate. Now my son will be able to get back to what he loves to do. Play the cajon! Thank you meinlusa! If you do have to do a warrantee replacement, make sure to contact support through the Amazon chat with the seller, not the default warrantee link. Will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Pro drummer loves this!
My best friend is a professional drummer who was looking for something to use for rehearsals and for semi-acoustic gigs. I purchased this (I own a studio) thinking it could be a good option. It's well made, and sounds great! There is a snare sound at the top -- not exactly sure how to adjust that to eliminate it if needed (we're currently using this as a kick or "bass drum") without unscrewing the face (I do wish they made these with an easy option to either use or muffle the snare sound), but in all honesty, it really sounds great. The finish is beautiful (I purchased a cover for it so it wouldn't get bashed up). By itself, it gives a deep nice slap sound for the body, and a good snare sound from the top. This is a good cajon for beginners as well as pros. My pro drummer loves it!Recommended!

Yes, it produces deep bass.
AS promised big bass and drum set like dynamics...perfect if you need that big boom for gigs or live jams. It would be nice if it was in black veneer or wood. The more I play it the more I do like it..

Big box and big boom for a taller person
My review of the Meinl Jumbo Bass cajon is based ultimately on my wants and how my expectations were met. That said, here is a rundown of what I desired and how this cajon fared:1. Size and comfort: I am 6’3” and wanted a larger box to sit on. I’ve sat on an average $100 cajon, and though they would hold my 225 lbs. up, the play area felt small for my hands. The jumbo part of this cajon is correct, because it is a pretty big box. It’s comfortable to sit on and provides an adequate area of play for the size of my hands. I definitely recommend this cajon for the big-and-tall musician out there.2. Sound: I ordered a bass cajon because I wanted that boom, and the cajon delivers. The snares add a good jingle to it but aren’t overwhelming. The output hole is at the bottom of the front, so acoustically sound is going to travel forward and up, so it is going to project well. And this thing can get loud if you’re really banging on it. However, because this is a fiberglass box with a wood face panel, it doesn’t hold the same warmth as an all-wood cajon. But that’s not a negative – just keep in mind it won’t sound the same.3. Appearance: In short, it looks nice, especially the wood face panel. Because it looks similar to a subwoofer, it’s a more novel cajon. But its darker, more neutral color doesn’t stand out and isn’t flashy, and I like that. It allows the sound to shine all the more.

Great deep resonance!
This is my favorite drum. I owned the bigger meinl, but it was too big for me to sit on. My legs aren’t that long and it was uncomfortable. This size is perfect and has the same great quality deep resonant bass sound. It also has a nice crisp snare. It’s not muffled at all. It sounds great. I take it everywhere. I’m relatively new at playing, and even though I’m not a pro… professional musicians have been really impressed with the sound quality that comes out of this drum. I know it’s not my skill because I’m still at the level of a simple beat. But the drum sounds so good that musicians have asked me to play along with them. It’s pretty cool! I love music, and I can get lost in the zone without being worried about performing on a complicated instrument.
