A bit raunchy - right from the beginning, but a good movie overall.
Jonah Hill gives a great performance - and it truly saves the film. The storyline is predictable, but what do you expect. Plenty of laughs and cringeworthy moments. Wish the truly crude beginning would have been cut, but otherwise a fun film.

A lot better than I expected... (3.5/5)
The Sitter is a comedy starring Jonah Hill as a babysitter. I've seen this movie get bashed by many so I went in with very low expectations (and 99¢ price didn't hurt much either). I was pleasantly surprised.I feel like the marketing made this out to be a hardcore, extremely raunchy comedy. It is an adult comedy but it isn't as extreme as some comedies out there. Actually, the story even mixes in some issues that kids have at a young age and has Jonah Hill tackling them in a (mostly) mature way. I thought it was a funny movie and it went by really fast, because it's short and thoroughly entertaining. The acting was fine.It was somewhat predictable and had slightly obvious ending, though. It may feel like you've seen this movie before because it doesn't do much to set itself apart from other "bring-something-to-the-party-and-get-'rewarded'" comedies. And some jokes weren't really funny.Overall, the price was right and it had a good amount of laughs. Ultimately, if you're a fan of Jonah Hill or looking for a decent comedy, I recommend checking out The Sitter. The Sitter (R-Rated Version) has some sexual references and a brief sex scene (nothing is seen, only heard), some violence, drug references, and excessive language.

Good comedy with a good message
I had to write a review for this movie when I saw some the crap that other people were writing. First off if you refer to this movie in the number of acts, this movie isn't for you. If you like Jonah Hill's movie then you'll love this one. Yes, his movies are a little vulgar and raunchy, but it good fun and Jonah doesn't pretend to be anything he's not. If you are not a fan of Jonah, this film still has a decent plot (much like Super Bad) and has a better message. You watch 4 kids (Jonah included) deal with little problems that are made into big deals but none other than themselves. As the characters grow and spend time with each other they learn from each other. Enemies become friends and realize that there are much bigger problems out there and that they need to deal with their problems instead of ignoring them and making them worse. It's well written, with good direction and that is why I gave it 4 stars. It is a good comedy with a good story.By the way, this is the unrated version, it's suppose to be vulgar and raunchy.

Funny and Dumb and Relatable
Good movie if you are like young but if you a boomer zoomer scooter then I don't recommend. Funny in a bad way!

Hits all the Stereotypes
This movie was about what I expected (A Modern Day Uncle Buck). Even though I do find Jonah Hill's foibles entertaining this movie was dumber than expected. The opening scene got it started poorly and while it floated for a little while after that it then descended into wokeness/stereotyping...A gay kid, a young kid acting the hispanic hoodlum and the Black gangbanger stereotypes, just stupid. Anyoo, better than a 1 or a 2, but just barely a 3.

an hilarious film
The box boasts the byline "totally irresponsible edition" and there is a lot to enjoy in this crazy film about a babysitter, Noah, reluctantly looking after three charges and finding himself driving around trying to find money to pay off a psychotic drug dealer. It is always lively, often crude, but likeable thanks to the contributions of Jonah Hill and Sam Rockwell - and all the cast, including the children, but it is the combination of these two that makes the film really quite sparky. The latter plays the dealer to perfection and is surrounded by beefy bodybuilders in skimpy gear, mad bad and dangerous to know, but with a likeable streak and an unreliable dress sense ... Both he and Hill reveal facets other actors don't reach in this kind of material. If the film seems to indulge in certain stereotyping both in racial and sexual terms, these are neatly subverted so that its vulgar, raucous heart emerges as being in the right place, without being too politically correct. The children themselves all have issues, but their wild adventure with Noah helps all three, and it really is well judged for a light 80 minutes of mayhem. It isn't remotely convincing, but as the implausibilities are piled on you don't really care - it can't be too outlandish, really.

Definitely worth a look
I know the majority of the film is predictable, dare I say cliché, but the ride was very enjoyable. That is, after-all, the nature of the comedy genre. How often do I go see a comedy for its intricate storyline, radical character development or enigmatic themes? Close to never, honestly, and so with that reasoning why not go balls-out? Jonah Hill is a very likable character in the film with an understandable ploy. It lacks the in-your-face violence of director previous film "Pineapple Express", but it is definitely hilarious, no doubt about that. The kids are very well played, and thankfully come out as pretty decent characters. Thankfully nowhere near as annoying as the duo of the "Are We There Yet?" films. It's definitely a coming-of-age film that may not be a classic, but it certainly is worth seeing.

Good for a laugh one night
Enjoyable, easy going comedy. Struggles a little to keep the story going sometimes, but entertaining for a night in. It's not a comedy that I will be talking over to friends in weeks/months to come. I watched it a couple of weeks ago and can't remember the lead character's name. So as I say not that memorable, but I do remember that it made me laugh and that in a few months time I'll dig it out one night to laugh to again.

The Sitter
Fans of Superbad & 21 Jump Street beware. This is truly an awfully made film. I am a Jonah Hill fan but this is really not one of his best. Built around babysitting 3 kids they are very unlikeable characters. The story progresses in a disjointed manner with no real storyline or focus and building up to a confusing and unfunny ending. The jokes are poor, the cast is poor the acting is worse and this is one of those movies I wish id never seen. Not entertaining for adults or children and Id recommend avoiding it if you like Superbad or 21 Jump Street.
