Garmin Stem Mount, Stem Mount for Garmin Computer, Adjustable Black

The media could not be loaded.  This is a review of Best Tek Garmin Stem Mount, Stem Mount for Garmin Computer, Adjustable BlackI looked at several other mounts before deciding to get this one. I'm very happy with this so far and the only reason I'd change my opinion would be if this were to break in some way.This is a solidly built, stem mount that fits my Edge 500 perfectly. Since it is a stem mount it sits a little closer and some riders may prefer the mounts that get the computer out in front of the handlebars a little bit more. I don't mind it being a little closer in, so this works nicely for me. It does have an adjustment to tilt the mount upwards, but I keep it as flat as it can be.Attaching this took all of about 2 minutes. You just need 2 different sized Allen wrenches. I used a 3mm for the tilt screw and a 5mm to get the Top Cap bolt out. Place the Top Cap on top of the mount, reinsert the Top Cap bolt and tighten. you're good to go.

This is well crafted for the most part, but there is one glaring issue.Pros:-The aluminum is well cut, well shaped. No burs, bad edges, etc.-Its sleek and the bend in the unit is adjustable, meaning it will fit a variety of bikes.Cons:-The plastic isn't as tight or as good as the original Garmin plastic quarter turn. As a result, with the mount lined up perfectly, when the head unit gets snapped into place, it is rotated about 5-10 degrees over rotation, and the unit bounces around a little when you hit hard bumps.If possible, I'm going to try and get an OEM plastic bit to replace the shipped plastic bit.

I own the KEdge version of this mount and thought I'd give this less expensive option a try. The first photo is this item on one bike and the KEdge on another. The only issue - which is pretty fundamental - is that the two pieces moved freely even when the bolt was tightened all the way. To fix this I ground down a bit of the headset-side piece and inserted a small washer to take up space (see circled area in second photo). I have a Garmin 1030 and always use the tether with all my bikes, but have had no issues with this mount at all. Would buy again.

I had purchased a XOSS G+ GPS computer, which admittedly must be a knock off of the real thing, but it works pretty well. However the various OEM mounts provided did not work well on my bike, either by not fitting or by messing up the handlebar on my road bike or by failure of the rubber bands holding the unit on the bike. I ordered this stem mount hoping that it would fit my unit, and it did just that. Took about two minutes to install it, and it fixed all my problems. It appears to be stable and strong enough, and it holds the unit just behind and below the handlebar which would seem to offer some protection from bumps and spills. Time will tell the rest.

A very good Stem mount for Garmin devices. Nice and secure.But if you are have other items attached to the Stem Cap (like a thermometer or clock), this mount may not allow the Garmin to be placed into the mount if you want to have the Garmin on the Stem. Mounting it sideways might be an option. As shown in the picture, mounting it sideways, the thermometer and the Garmin device is viewable. It can also be folded either down or up.

This thing was easy to mount and did the job. I was a bit worried the pivot screw would not be tight enough to hold my Garmin 1000 but it did. I had a pretty decent crash on the mountain bike and the mount held up but the plastic that holds the Garmin broke. I would probably still buy another one because of the price point but I have decided to use my Garmin 235 watch to start recording my MTB rides. Either way, if you are looking for a stem mount, save your money on getting the K-Edge an give this one a try. You cant be the value for the price.

TBF I am using this mount for my cell phone, which is heavier than a bike computer. But still! I had a different version that I use for over 2k miles without any issues. So I think this one is poorly made.When the piece broke btw, my phone went flying like 6-7 feet to my left right into some major traffic lanes. I almost lost my expensive iPhone bc of this crap.

This mount was easy to attach. And it holds my Garmin Edge 830 firmly in place, which on a bouncy mountain bike is important. I like the location directly above the stem as I believe this is safer than protruding out in front of the handlebars.

Molto carino e molto leggero ma ha un problema, se avete garmin 1030 o comunque grosso non ruota e non lo potete montare quando tenere il canotto che sporge. Se segate il canotto ok ma ...poi non avete margine di assetto. Basterebbe una maglia di prolunga ...

Mein Edge 830 einmal falsch gekantet eingesetzt und gedreht, schon ist das Plastik der inneren Halterung gebrochen. Schade, den ansonsten recht gute haptische Qualität. 2 Sterne, weil es auch ein bisschen Fehlbedienung war, meine anderen Halterungen sind da aber robuster...
