AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 – Power Conditioner/Non-Sacrificial Surge Protector – Power Strip – 8 Outlets – 4 USB Charging Ports (PQ3)

We live with frequent thunderstorms and lightning strikes, which are tough on AV gear. For too long, I purchased run of the mill surge protection. A few years ago, lightning hit a tree in our backyard. My neighbor lost almost all his AV equipment; my cheap surge protector strip saved everything in my house. I thought I was a genius. I didn’t know that nearly all of “sacrificial” protection died that stormy afternoon. Oops.Later, another storm rolled through and the most expensive parts of my AV system were “sacrificed.” Before the replacement gear arrived, I looked for “non-sacrificial” surge protection. I was pleased to find, and purchased, this affordable non-sacrificial surge protector by Audioquest. I honestly can’t tell you if this unit does everything the manufacturer claims on the box. I do know, lightning strikes are no longer a concern, and occasional power line “noise” disappeared. My 15 amp branch circuit is also used for the vacuum cleaner. Before the Audioquest 300 was installed, our TV showed “clutter” while the vacuum was running. After the 300 was installed, the vacuum/TV clutter disappeared.The Audioquest 300 does everything I hoped it would do. I highly recommend this product.

This is a magnificent piece of equipment. I installed this before I changed out the electrical outlet and there was a very distinct change in audio quality. The sound stage widens and high tones become more clear, more distinct as the bass tightens up and is less muddy. The video performance was a bit of a surprise really. Slightly brighter whites and deeper blacks. The fact that this has ports that deliver specific current to your TV and sound equipment makes this a must have. It also linear filters your electric signal on top of surge protecting. Audioquest makes a bold statement that they are betting up to $1,000,000 that your equipment will never fry as a result of a surge. That's some serious piece of mind when storms roll in.If you are into increasing the quality of your sound/video, start with this. However, if you get this in combination with Audioquest's NRG Edison, prepare yourself for an increase in sound/video that will surprise you and blow your mind. :)

I bought it for my Sony A90j TV. The TV has rich and vibrant colors. But there was still some background noise that caused watching fatigue. The PQ3 has two outlets dedicated to 4k/8k video display and I used one only. The fatigue-causing irritation disappeared immediately. I became curious and wanted to find more. First to my notice was the shades of color being richer and subtler. The blending of colors in adjacent areas was smoother, either at low or high brightness. Next, the color seemed to be a bit more transparent, causing an increase in depth of the objects in display. The improvement was also made in sound quality. The internal speaker array sounded darker and fuller. The digital output from the TV was improved, too.

Its a very good power conditioner and surge protector at a fair price.

Expensive but designed to protect your more expensive home theater equipment. So far, I’ve had no issues and I have total piece of mind using this that my equipment will be protected. Worth the investment.

I'm returning this as there is no evidence that I can see or hear that this actually filters much of anything worthwhile. I have a buzz in my amp which is directly caused by the room lights and dimmer that I have connected to the same circuit. I am no electrician, but it seems to me that if this power conditioner filtered any noise whatsoever, gone would be the noise caused by turning on those lights. It not only didn't remove that buzz, but it didn't diminish it in the least. I certainly heard no difference in sound on my system with it connected, and I have pretty sensitive ears. Given the posted tests online that show that there is no discernible noise filtered by this unit, I'm under the impression that it doesn't actually accomplish anything for audio whatsoever. If you hear a difference, then great, it works for you, but not for me.
