Swissmar Borner V-1001 V-Slicer Plus Mandoline Includes Free Cutting Glove

The first one I ordered arrived broken but I had no trouble returning it to Amazon. I bought it for fries and it works like a charm and is very, very sharp. Use extreme caution or you can easily slice off a fingertip. I have a cutting glove and I would advise that everyone use one when using this type of tool.

not to good choice,so many pieces,not simple/practical in using

I purchased this mandoline after seeing it reviewed on "Americas Test Kitchen". I looked into it mainly based on price and the reviewers recommendation. I ended up paying a slight bit more than was quoted on other online sourcea, and thought the cutting glove would be a good addition after reading other reviews on Amazon.This is my first mandoline and it works just fine. I'm happy with the construction, the blade and I like the julienne blades, even though I'll probably never use them.If it came with another blade with for slicing and if the food handle had some sort of channel guide, that would be a bit of a help. I haven't had any problems with the handle flying off the blade or cutting myself. The food glides nearly effortlessly over the blade making neat, even slices.You can't use this instrument with complete abandon, especially when washing. The blades are incredibly sharp. I also read some reviews complaining about large bits of food left as waste under the handle, but I didn't find it too bad and cut the last couple slices by hand..or just ate them :).All in all, I recommend this product. Probably good for a first timer, like me!

Perfect. Everything I wanted. Safety first idea taken to it's ultimate. Blade handling is absolutely safe now. Length of slicer is perfect for the slices to land in a bowl, on a plate, or into a pot. Good invention.

Get no other brand, this will do the job infinitely better and easier
