Robin Hood

SLEEPER ALERT: Not like any other Robin Hood flick.
Whatever you do, forget what Taron Egerton said, about the movie. After watching 6 of his many movies, I would have to rate this one right after Rocketman, for which he earned a Golden Globe. Excellent movie (explains the story, so much better than earlier versions), great cast (Ben Mendelsohn, Jamie Foxx, Eve Hewson and Jamie Dorman), wonderful set design, an amazing telling of an old fable. Taron should stick to his many crafts, he has many, but film critic should not be one of his jobs. This is one of his best movies, yes it was released during the pandemic, should be re-released and they left it wide open for a part 2, so let it be.

Sequel to many Robin hoods
It had a different take but same message as other Robin hood tales. Really enjoyed it

Not trying to be Errol Flynn. Doesn't need to be.
I saw this movie on a plane and decided I needed to own it. Is it political? Oh yes! But Robin Hood is political by definition. The heart of the story is usurpation of power, civil disobedience, forcible redistribution of wealth, and overthrow of illegitimate authority. How can that NOT be political? Bathurst does a great job of creating a world that is not medieval England, because he says up front, this is not the story you know. If you wanted a remake of Errol Flynn, you came to the wrong store. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE The Adventures of Robin Hood. But this movie spends time with the complexities that other movies gloss over for the action and the love story. This one successfully modernizes elements in the visuals to make connections and evoke emotional responses. I usually hate that kind of thing, because it's usually done badly. (The setting of a version of Hamlet in a South American dictatorship comes immediately to mind.) But Bathurst never forgets the design and the costume are to serve the storytelling and the acting. Brilliant actors do brilliant work, and the visual elements serve the movie, not the other way around. I see more in the film each time I watch. I can't ask for more than that.

So many weird bad things.
It's hard to know what the plan was for this movie. Let me first say that I've watched most of the Robin Hood movies (even the old ones) and really enjoy the books. I even like the books where the play with the legends (Robin is a girl, etc.). I like the lead actors. But what in the heck is going on with this? [Spoilers to follow].Why is the first scene filmed like Black Hawk Down? Clearly they were aiming for this, but it makes no sense. Also, does no one own a sword is this universe? You don't use a bow when you are two feet away from someone. Also, the idea that catapults were like artillery strikes is so laughable. Why is this like the inverse of "A Knight's Tale"? (Brilliant movie BTW). There are a lot of anachronisms in both movies but in a Knight's Tale, they all work and add to the humor, while in this movie it's just weird. What is the world is with all the exploding fire? Oh my gosh, so much exploding fire and for no reason.Automatic crossbows?!? Rocket launcher ballistas? There is no one in the entirety of the church that isn't completely morally bankrupt and evil and an atheist? (I usually think the whole "it's anti-Christian" thing is overstated, but here is really is anti-Christian, or maybe it's anti-atheist, or I just don't know).Look, I'm not a stickler for historical accuracy, but I do appreciate a little consistency in movies, or at least a bit of logic. As I said, I like the actors and I'm rooting for them to have good careers. But this one will not help those careers.

Did bad at the box office !
Lot of action and romance, and friendships forge and kind of politcal but thats make the film stand out. Didn't like is that film didn't never had chance at box office. The film should of had a sequel. There all a films that do extremely bad at the boxoffice and get a sequel.

Um bom filme
Um filme sessão da tarde. Não é dos melhores filmes de Taron Egerton, que é um ator excepcional, mas, vale pelos atores que salvam o filme que tem um roteiro fraco.
