Dictator's Playbook

In having seen episodes of "The Dictator's Playbook," at least I am glad that some of the selected individuals in the six-part series were the most dangerous and even somewhat sadistic. But the reason that I gave THREE STARS was that there were NO additional episodes about U.S.-supported dictators like the Shah of Iran, Chile's Pinochet, Cuba's Batista, Nicaragua's Somoza, and the apartheid leaders of the old South Africa as well. After all, I have seen enough documentaries about the so-called "Communist dictators" already, and not only that, their policies already had NOTHING to do with what Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels had preached in their writings. All in all, "The Dictator's Playbook" was about next to impressive with such staggering accounts.

Nothing makes the dangers of socialism or populism gone awry than this video. I did not understand that fascism, nazism and other forms of dictatorships were an outgrowth of extreme forms of socialism or populism, or how they arose in Italy, or that Franco's Spanish version was so long lasting.

Blueprint for tyrants. After viewing it is much easier to understand why a free press is vital to democracy.Other reviewers knock this series for not including Hitler or Stalin. Programs are only 52 minutes - way too short to include Hitler or Stalin.

Originally I saw this programming on PBS and was so intrigued that I had to make sure I had a copy for keepsake. The reason the title of my review is because that man must have read or indulged in following the rules of a dictator and have the playbook played out for him all the way up until the insurrection.

A very detailed description of dictators actions and how they came to power. Shows just how close our country could have been another dictatorship like North Korea with Trumps actions

I'd like to know where 'SK' gets his Franco facts and if he realizes his review of this segment is also a form of propaganda. Balderdash.

"The Dictator's Playbook" illustrates not only how despots like those profiled in this DVD set (and others who were not) rose to power, but also their backgrounds (which are very similar to one another), how they achieved their goals, how some of them fell, how some of them died in office and left their countries in shambles, and their other fates. This also shows how so many nations fell under the iron fists of tyrants in the previous century, and how democracy has been eroded by these dictators' combined influence over various political leaders, even democratically elected rulers. "The Dictator's Playbook" will illuminate you in the ways of tyrants -- and give you many sleepless nights (if you have a scrap of humanity and decency in your soul at all!) If you dare to take a walk through part of the dark side of politics and abuses thereof, buy a copy of "The Dictator's Playbook" from Amazon today... that is, IF you dare!

Human nature does not change. And every human being carry with him all the baggage to be a monster if there are no restraints (parents, government, laws). Here you have it: All the cunning, the greed, the uncontrollable lust, the murderous instinct toward anybody in the way of ''my'' ambition, and the bloody thirst for power. Not much different with today's society if unrestrained......but these people were at some point unrestrained and in position of ultimate power (Dictator). This is not Cinderella, but it is so informative on how far the human heart can go. You do not want another flame quickener to lead. I learned a lot.

Bought this as a Christmas gift. It arrived quickly and in good condition.

Factual...but boring...
