EZ Cracker Handheld Egg Cracker/Separator

If, like me, you were taken in by the most satisfying advertisement you have ever seen, I beg of you – do not be fooled.Having watched the official video for this product countless times and showing literally every person I know, I was absolutely desperate to buy myself one of these magical contraptions. It’s not that I have ever had any trouble cracking eggs, and thankfully I’ve not had any eggshell in my delicious muffins – but even so, I needed this.Having purchased this for a bargain at £4, I was delighted and couldn’t wait for delivery. When the big day came (which also happened to be pancake day – a perfect day for egg cracking) the excitement was almost too much to bear. I practically left scorch marks on the office carpet as I shot off home! Having purchased extra eggs on the way home, to ensure the enjoyment of my latest gadget wasn’t ruined by the lack of eggs, I was ready.I eagerly ripped the gadget from the (rather tastefully designed) packaging and carefully positioned my first victim (I mean, egg). Appearing perfectly poised with the camera set to record (this is one of the moments in life, that I felt really needed to be document – like your first steps, or the first time you got too drunk), I squeezed the handles and waited to be impressed.NOTHING. My egg did not crack, my pancake mix was not nearly ready and my heart broke. I panicked, had I just wasted £4, had I been conned!? Surely this could not be true! I attempted every egg in that pack, but to no avail.After around 30 attempts on my last egg, I was starting to get desperate. When, finally, it happened! The damn thing finally cracked an egg. Unfortunately, I then had to pick out loads of tiny bits of shell – this never would’ve happened if I had just cracked it with a damn knife.It’s taking me a while to get over this, but I feel I can finally warn the rest of you impressionable young minds – It is all a big lie!

I bought one of these for my daughter as she has never been able to crack eggs. She used it for the first time today & she is thrilled to bits with it. No mess, no bits of egg shell, a clean & easy way for her to make her own breakfasts. To the persons that can't get this appliance to work, you are obviously using too much pressure. causing egg to smash rather than just crack. Even if this item were twice the price I would happily buy another. Undoubtedly one of the best things I have ever bought for my daughter.

A very simple and ingenious bit of kit, it does work well, but on the odd occasion it will not break the shell completely. It may be that the egg has to be centred eggactly (see what I did there?) but I am happy with it and it is worth having if, like me you have trouble cracking eggs. Simple to use. Not dishwasher safe.

Not for everyday use, but great for a novelty gift.

When my order came and i started to use it i said to my husband what on earth is this supposed to be.It was nothing like the video showed how it worked.It did not hold the egg properly in the cradle and when i sqeezed the handles together to crack the egg as shown the egg kept on slipping out on one side and it took several attempts to release the egg inside.On the video it looked great but in reality it does not work for my liking i would not purchase another one.

There is a reason the reviews on this product are mostly 1 stars, because it really is that bad. I brought this kind of as joke, seeing as it was only £5. But was interested in seeing if it would work. I thinking even paying £5 for it was far too much. This looks and feels like something from a kids play set. Poorly made and constructed. Does not work at all. It doesn't even scratch an egg, let alone crack it. Mainly because I think you have to have had eggs that are the size of tennis balls to make any use of this thing. Unfortunately all the chickens I know don't poop tennis ball sized eggs. Even if they did, I don't think I'd continue to get these sized eggs, as they might be too sore to poop out more the same size. On the one egg that I did manage to break open with this crappy device, there was so much shell in my bowl afterwards, I would have had more success and less shell by slamming the egg into my forehead and making my scrambled eggs that way. Avoid this product at all costs.Ps stick to cracking eggs the normal way, don't slam them into your head, it makes one hell of a mess.

Great product, more a novelty gadget but works every time, not sure I would completely trust it to separate white and yolk if I was doing a meringue but works very well

This is a gadget you have to try if only for the novelty value. Excellent value for the price paid (£5) and it does what it says on the box. Two niggles I have come across, eggs stored at cold temperature (+3c) do not crack properly and you have to fiddle to remove the eggshell when the item works properly. All that said you really do need to try the product!
