Good Book For Beginners
This is a solid book for beginners. It doesn’t get extremely technical, so it’s palatable for people just getting started mixing.

Great book on mixing!
Like the back of the book says, this is the no BS guide to taking your mixes to the next level. I’ve been seriously into mixing the past couple years, spent hours on YouTube learning different techniques and tips, subscribed to URM and watched producers mix from the ground up and was still able to gain some valuable information from this book and understand things from a different perspective. The writing was straight to the point and very easy to follow for those that don’t particularly enjoy reading. If you’re on the fence about picking this up, I’d definitely recommend it!

Great Tips
The book is well written and provides a multitude of tips for getting the mix right without being too long. I could definitely hear the difference in my mix, but then again I also got a new DAW with a lot more bells and whistles, so is it the mixing skills I picked up or not? Either way, at least I feel confident in the workflow and have had the opportunity to try new things.

Good resource, but not for everybody.
I’ve been doing amateur home recording & mixing for years. This book is really tremendous for me and an easy read due to my familiarity with the subject matter. I really feel that it is helping to take my skills to the next level, and it jumps straight into material that is beneficial for me at my current experience level. But this is a book for me. It is a deeper dive into basic concepts I am already familiar with.It is not a book for beginners. It is a glorified cheat sheet. It frequently uses mixing engineer lingo and shorthand without even attempting to define terms for a reader who is just getting into producing. It will not tell you which DAW to use nor will it teach you the fundamentals of using one. The author assumes that you already have a DAW of choice and that you are already familiar with performing basic tasks within it. So this is NOT a good place to start if you don’t even know what a DAW is.I also do not think that professionals or extremely experienced amateurs would get much out of this book, since, again, it is a deep dive into basic concepts; it does not illuminate any particularly obscure or advanced production techniques.I am harping on this so much because the book bills itself as being for ~everybody~ and I find this to be disingenuous. This is, very specifically, a resource for people who are already mixing music, but aren’t satisfied with their mixes yet. If that’s who you are, let me tell you, that’s who I am too, and this book is perfect! But if that’s not you, you are probably looking for something different.

A top-notch guide for any level of music-maker.
This is a top-notch guide to music mixing in the modern way ie DAWs. I have learned much before I got to this book, but it has such an excellent spread of knowledge to impart, it works well at every skill level I believe. Some resources online help to round out your learning and hopefully I suppose, enjoyment, although I was doing some real projects of my own and just applied the lessons to that. It’s also applicable to hardware, and while steering clear of being too narrow, we are lucky that things like ‘plugins’ have become a universal method, across different Operating Systems. Thus, when the author speaks of say compression, pretty much every compressor lets you do the stuff he speaks of, so it does not matter which one he uses, or you use.Easy to recommend it, and it is compact, with other guides from the same author available, if say your appetite for compression or EQ is not abated by the main sections here on them.No inducements of any sort were sought or obtained, for writing this review. The usual giveaway, is the gushing and obnoxious level of detail in those paid-for reviews - they have probably become counter-productive, I certainly hope so!Richard Getts, January 2020 - releases on iTunes, Spotify, etc.

Will give a solid start
Like many people I love to mess around with music - playing, writing, recording, mixing etc, all for my own pleasure (sometimes). I have spent a bit of money along the way, but never really progressed beyond a certain point where I do enough to stay interested, but become frustrated as I seem to stay stuck at that point. I enjoy the tech, learning about the plugins, playing with the hardware, but would like to progress a bit further on the road of music production, if only for my own satisfaction, but maybe also to justify the investment a little. The biggest problem for most people is, I suspect, not being able to spend enough time at the music, and consequently it all gets very stop-start and haphazard. A bit of guidance on workflow is really helpful. That's what this little book gives - a guide to thinking about workflow. Even if the work is broken into small chunks of activity as time permits, having a plan really helps you pick up where you last left off. Mixing is the point in the process where I get hung up, and I suspect many others do to.I'm no expert, but there is certainly enough content and depth in this book to get me moving in some sort of direction, and more knowledge can always be added later. It may not everything to everybody, but if you are struggling to make progress - and becoming a bit frustrated - I recommend this as a good starting and reset point.

Does what it says on the tin
If you buy this book for the right reasons, you will love it, if not......well...I am in the middle of an expensive music production and mixing course. What I wanted was an extended aid memoire, in paper copy, that I could keep by my desk or bedside table, to help me through any parts I wanted to brush up on. This book does just that for me.If you are expecting an all inclusive compendium on music mixing, you may be disappointed. In short, I am pleased with the book.

Great read for this amateur
I just need simple techniques to help me make my home recordings sound as good as possible - and this book delivers exactly that. Well explained concepts and a great stepwise approach to the subject. Making music is simply a passionate hobby for me, not a career. VST drums, bass, guitar and keys with a just one "real" synth and vox for my "house band", all recorded in Cubase Elements. So, I see mixing and mastering as tiresome procedures that are unfortunately necessary to complete the recording process and this book provides loads of essential information, without overloading the reader. Virtually all I need is right here. Well done Bjorgvin.

OK for beginners and filling in knowledge
It is very basic but for beginners, as good as it gets. If you grasp this, most other matters are experimentation and experience.I've been mixing since the '70s. I browsed a mate's copy of this and bought it because it explains some technology that has come on since I started and that answered a few questions I had.Only five plug ins? It's alright saying "only" but after five, you are compensating for other things you should have got right anyway. That apart, a good book for beginners and also an explanation of recent terminology for us "old 'uns."
