She weaves you into the story and before you realize, she has helped you become more aware and grateful. I have trouble listening to most audiobooks because they cause me to focus on whatever else I am doing. Ms. Pinkola Estes’ voice is engaging and I find myself focused on the story. I could listen to her over and over, again. I would love to see her give a Ted Talk. Her work is timeless.

Estes always comes through in the most amazing ways and has excellant insight into the female psyche.I am looking forward to everything new from her.

To live until I die is a premise I love-Don't give up until that last breath. Every person would benefit from listening to these CDs. Clarissa has a silken sounding voice yet she is able to be various characters in her story.

What an amazing storyteller Pinkola Estes is! This is a collection of fairytales and family stories about the inner beauty and wisdom of old women, and I seriously think Pinkola Estes is the best storyteller I've ever heard. Her cadence, her sound effects, the way she uses different voices for each character - it's just wonderful. Her voice is so warm and loving, perfect for listening to on a cold winter night while wrapped up snugly in a cozy blanket with a cup of tea. As soon as I finished, I got the next two audio books in the series.

I have experience in participating in and writing Croning Ceremonies. Our society is so ageist that a positive image for older women in particular is very important. The eldest women of villages and tribes were always honored in centuries past...they were the wise ones, the ones that kept the stories, the ones who centered the society, the ones who "knew." As paternalism took hold in early Christiandom, women lost their status - called witches instead of healers for example. It is time again to take back the honor of living and learning, surviving, and passing on the lessons of a life of responsibility - to honor the elder women (and wise men). Pinkola-Estes weaves fascinating stories that illustrate the foolishness of inexperienced youth by focusing on the positive life experiences of the wise ones. She tells her stories with grace and humor. I have been listening to these CDs in my car for two weeks.

Great story. Very powerful for women of a certain age. I would recommend the whole collection. I will listen to it again and probably by the hard copy
