When I was asked to review this ball light, I didn't really know what to expect. Once it arrived, however, is when the fun started.This is an 8" lightweight, plastic ball with a flat bottom, so you don't have to find something to sit it in. As for size, I read 8", but the ball is even bigger than I imagined. This is the first time in my life I've ever said that 8" is bigger than I thought.It's OPAQUE, so it's not glaring on the eyes. It's WATERPROOF, so you can use it outside at a party or a nice evening on the porch. It FLOATS, so you can use it in the pool (or even the bathtub). While it's safe to go in the pool, it's not the beach ball kind of plastic, so you wouldn't want to knock it around. It's solidly made, but you'd want to give it the respect you'd give any other light.The ball is USB rechargeable and comes with a charge, so you can power this baby on right away. The fun part is that it has 16 color settings! 12 settings are colors and the last four are: flash, strobe, fade, and smooth. The four effects all involve color. They will cycle through colors and flash at different rates. Fade is my favorite -- it slowly cycles through each color. It's quite lovely.The ball has a remote control that allows you to choose colors and effects AND control the brightness. You can even choose plain white. The brightness control makes this super versatile. And speaking of versatile... it has the flat bottom so it can sit by itself, a spike you can screw in so you can plant it outside, and a ring you can screw in so you can hang it.That said, you aren't screwed if you want to change the ball color or turn it off, but you left the remote in the house. There is a switch on the bottom of the light that will cycle through it's colors and effects. You do need the remote for adjusting the brightness of the ball, but that is to be expected as the finer controls are always done at the remote, just like on your TV.This LED ball light is worth the money and I'm glad I bought it. It's way cooler than I thought it would be. I can't stop playing with it. You can use it in your yard, pool, at your kid's birthday party, or even in your baby's room as a night night. There are just so many ways you can put this light to use.

This is my second ball. Love how cool it looks in the pool. Had one that lasted for a year before it stopped working. Thought was worth buying another, but sadly the new one broke after 1 use.

Ordered 8” ball. Received 4” hard plastic, clearly not waterproof. Clearly a lesser product and not the same item advertised but paid full price. Not pleased.

Bright and fun for kids. Easy to charge and use. Love i can hang it up too Nice for babies as well to see fun colors.
