Going online takes too long and sometimes is not available for hours.
I have a Swann DVR camera system that works well. So I though this system would work equally as wellThe goodThis was easy to setup with my Wi-Fi and wiring it to power for old doorbell per the instructions works fine. The badI cannot get connected to the doorbell fast enough to see who rung the doorbell unless they stand there for 3 minutes. Sometimes I have to try multiple times to get a live view. my security cameras see the delivery person on 3 different cameras but my doorbell never saw the delivery person at all. Setting is high on detection. The only thing it seems to detect is when a garbage truck goes buy picking up the all of our garbage. Or occasionally when we open the front door and go outside. I loose connection to it even though a smart outlet and my camera system is still online. I kept hoping they would update the firmware to help but so far it is basically is worthless as a security device. If it hasn’t gone offline it will at least let me know the doorbell was activity’s. My Wi-Fi routers are within 10 and 15 feet. I have 2 Wi-Fi routers and both have the same issue. I would not recommend this device for enyrhing but a wirelesss doorbell that may or may not notify you in a timely manner.

Good value
Very good camera night vision is good with adequate lighting at a distance. Up close its just fine. Easy to pair. Can have mulitple cameras on one account.

Buyer Beware Seriously !
Absolutely a piece of trash more aggrevation than worth . Very delayed , hard wiring requires extra parts that are not readily available , customer support could be better educated on the product . Records when the device feels compelled . Alerts show days later which make for confusion when clicking on notification due to the app alert not being concurrent with the current day . I feel as if I wasted my time and money trying to get the device operating correctly . Seemed to me that I was more of thier tech support test dummy rather than a customer who has purchased multiple products from swann in the past .

Needs improvement
The Swann Wire Free Video Doorbell Security Camera has a lot of potential, but right now it needs work.I set it up and put it in place of my current doorbell. If you are like me, you probably have a taller, skinny rectangle doorbell that is maybe two inches tall and a half inch wide. Depending on where it is mounted, this doorbell is going to have to squeeze into a potentially small space. I was able to make it work, but it could be difficult for some. You will need to have good wi-fi at your front door or it won't work either. I am in pretty good shape as my router is right over the front door, one floor up. So I have a very strong signal.Unfortunately, even with a strong signal, I don't always get a good experience. I'm not sure if this is Swann's fault or if it is something inherently bad about my setup, or my house. I will say that I have generally good performance with my wi-fi in my house. The Swann Wire Free Video Doorbell Security Camera uses a micro sd card to store the video on the device. One neat things is that you can access this from the app, sort of - it is choppy and slow for some reason. The app doesn't make it easy on you to skim through the recordings. Once you are watching one, you cannot fast forward or rewind and try as I might, I could not get it to complete a download of a video onto the app for me to share here. I was going to try and show the video quality with a sample video.I could have gone down and torn into it and gotten the card out and uploaded it, but it is kind of sad that I can't just save the video (you CAN, the app allows for it, but it just isn't working - it just spins in a circle and never finishes). Also, the power situation is sketchy. It appears that you can use your existing power that goes to your regular doorbell, but you have to go online to do that. Another thing that I've seen mentioned is that some people think you cannot operate your existing doorbell chime with the device, but according to Swann - you can - you just have to buy a 10 watt, 10 ohm resistor and install it inline. I ordered a 10 watt, 10 ohm resistor here on Amazon with mixed luck. They are very large so finding a way to install it is tricky, also - while they are inexpensive (between $0.50 and $6 depending on what you find and what shipping you choose) they are also inaccurate (mine was 16 ohms). As others have mentioned, using this the way you IMAGINE you would use it is probably impossible. It just doesn't seem able to realize the doorbell has been pressed (or sense motion) and alert your phone and let you pull up the feed so you can interact with the person at your door in a timely enough manner to do this right now. There are still some nice things about it. Since you should be able to wire your existing doorbell chime to this, you should be able to put it in place of your regular doorbell - and if nothing else - it may act as a deterrent from someone stealing from you or otherwise causing a problem. Also, it DOES record 720p (semi) HD video and it can be obtained later. Another problem is that it is supposed to adjust to backlighting and darkness automatically, but it doesn't really work as well as you would hope and sometimes people are hard to see while the street is lit up bright white. The Swann Wire Free Video Doorbell Security Camera has potential but needs some work right now. I think that I'm going to keep mine in place for now, but it isn't what I hoped it would be and I don't think that I would recommend it to anyone because I think that their expectations would be higher than what the product is able to do right now.

Not worth bothering with
This doesn't come with a chime, so it's useless other than with your phone if you don't hardwire it to a real doorbell inside. I started looking at settings and saw there was a firmware update, so I ran that. For something which should've been able to be set up in minutes, this was hours and hours of wasted time. The app takes several seconds to connect to the doorbell. By the time you complete this process and get to the front door, your visitor has long since given up and left. It relies on push device notifications meaning without the optional chime installed you need to have your smartphone or tablet nearby or always on your person. The image quality leaves something to be desired even on a higher resolution setting. Voice quality is equally so-so, and the audio is delayed. Unless connected to an external power supply, the Swann Wire-Free Video Doorbell Security Camera has to be periodically recharged. It's huge. Bigger than any other I've seen. It's just not worth even bothering with.

Doorbell fail
The media could not be loaded. It is shown by “rob” in their product video you can connect it to your preexisting wired door bell. But it makes the doorbell buzz. After checking instructions and flipping the wires at the mounting bracket i had the same issue. So i called Swann tech support, a few times. “Rocky” had no phone etiquette and no product knowledge. Told me that i had a “custom” install. His supervisor “lei” told me that the screw connection was for power not a mechanical doorbell. So returned and moved on. Picture and video attached

Finally got it set up
And as with the indoor camera, we love the picture quality and ease of use with the app. The teenagers in the home, however, aren't too thrilled with it because no they can't have any more RAGERS while we're away! LOL It is really nice to see so many options for home security and safety at increasingly low prices, and SWANN has been very good to us. We love it!
