Backlight Warning Function Refer to the international standard, TDS value of 40 is the critical point for the purity of water. The lower the TDS level, the purer the water. If TDS value is above 40, normally it indicates the water is very likely unsuitable for drinking, and hence the backlight of the LCD will turn out to be red while the test result of TDS is above 40. However, the water with TDS value below 40 does not necessarily mean it is drinkable since there are various factors (e.g. bacteria amount) would determine whether the water is safe or not. Read this comparison first
I bought “different” 3 tops rated TDS testers from Amazon. Two of them(the white and purple In photo ) just branded differently, but made from the same manufacture in China. The build quality is okay. The reading is somewhat accurate(maybe a little higher). The biggest problem is the battery not user replaceable. If this is what you Looking for,Just get the one with best price.The TDS-EZ (blue one in photos )is a little more expensive, but the build quality is better(design in U.S.A & Korea, made in India). This tester makes me know that the original water in my home was 348 ppm when it was not. However, the filtered water in my home was only 33 ppm. This allows me to drink the filtered water at ease. I lent this tester to my friend, and he found that his filtered water was up to 200 ppm. My friend would buy the filter we current used. They have new twins in their family and they need very clean water just now. Thanks to this filter, my friend can improve his water quality.

Quality
It's hard to test if most bottle water are not that pure, but there is a diference in between bottles. I will keep testing and posting
