CompTIA Security+ Certification Kit Recommended Courseware: Exam SY0-301 3rd Edition

Courtesy of this exam preparation manual, I was given the foundation I needed to successfully pass the Security + exam without needed to take any online or in-class courses.The author does a good job of breaking down the different components by subject area, rather than just by the exam components. This enabled me to build up on the knowledge obtained in earlier chapters to get a big picture view of what the exam was asking for.The assessment test at the start of the book helps you judge where need to focus your energies as you make your way through the rest of it. Each chapter concludes with quizzes and Q&A sections that reinforce the information you just.Sample exam questions are also provided on the CDs (both in the main manual and exam cram guide). The diversity of questions and method of administering them help you test yourself on the material multiple times without giving you the 'cheat' of memorizing the answers.All in all, I was pleased that I was able to use this book to pass the Security + exam on my first try (and it even took me only half the alloted time to do so.)

This kit gives you a pretty good package to prepare yourself for the Security+ exam. I wasn't sure how much I needed, any my company was paying for me to get certified, so I went with the whole kit. Honestly I only read the Study Guide and I felt like it was enough to pass the test. The CDs were helpful for going through the flash cards and taking practice tests. The format of the real exam was very similar to the practice tests on the CDs and the questions were similar. The Study Guide is a fairly big book though so if you just needed a refresher the Review Guide might be more suited for you. I never even cracked open the Administrator book. Passed the test by a safe margin just this week.

I bought this to help with my studies for Security+ 301 exam - I also had a week long class and studied very hard - pass exam with high marks. I use the book with other study guides - I did not find one book that answered all questions.

Great Price and quick shipping. Cheaper than buying them from the CompTIA website, and since I can't ever find any good study materials at regular stores here in San Antonio, I will always go straight to Amazon for all of my exam prep materials from now on.

Good book to get started for the Sec+ Prepn. This is a good book to broadly understand the various topics of the security+ exam. But the book written by Darril Gibson is ultimate.

I purchased this set of Books and CD's as a requirement for a job I recently acquired. I thoroughly read the Study Guide, and Review Guide. Then I practiced all the chapter quizzes & sample test until I could get roughly 95% over all the questions available. I have been doing networking in the field for nearly 15 years so I had a good understanding of networking fundamentals. These books filled in a lot of blanks for my general networking knowledge. After reading, I felt I had a good grasp on the material presented. When I took the test, some questions were worded in a fashion that made little sense. I scored an 84%, and obscurely worded questions were most of the problem. So if you do the work, you can pass the test with these resources.

Final Score on Sec+ Exam....Enough said for those looking to pass the test themselves. (Another tip: Look up "Professer Messer" on Youtube. He has a lot of great videos to help you prepare).

All you need is this book and you will pass it... Make sure you follow the books curriculum/study guide and you will be all to the Good
