Quality Splice Kit
I'm a little surprised; I thought these were gimmicky and finicky, but they're pretty decent. I slide the connector over one wire and twist them inline before heating. I start on low heat, and once the heat-shrink grips the insulation, I turn the heat gun to High and concentrate on the solder ring until I see it contract and flow.

Good shrink tube
The shrink tube itself seems to be of good quality the silicone seal rings are reasonable. The solder seems to hold a good connection with no added resistance.

Tried these and voila. They work great. I used a heat gun on low and that's enough.
Works as I had hoped for...previously I tried connecting a two wire lamp cord by twisting the many small strands and then carefully wrapping in black electrical tape but it would easily flicker and then disconnect. Tried these and voila. They work great. I used a heat gun on low and that's enough.

Works well for smaller gauge wires. The larger yellow fasteners didn't work at all.
