Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
I just received this product yesterday and am still learning its ins, outs, and oddities; if anything in this post is not accurate, please let me know in the comments and I'll edit as needed.I had owned one of the Version 2.2 models of the Pro Call Blocker for about 6 months, but recently returned it when it would no longer allow outgoing calls (unless you pressed the SET button first-- a pain when you're using a cordless phone and are not near the unit). This Version 4 model is much improved over the previous one, but is not perfect. The Pros:1. Since it plugs into house current and has battery backup, it is not prone to the problems related to using it on VoIP or DSL systems. This feature alone makes it worthwhile and a real improvement over earlier models.2. It has a LARGE display with a backlight that turns on when the phone plugged into it goes off-hook.The Cons:1. There is no longer an "UP" button-- only a "DOWN" (actually, it says "DWN") button, which makes browsing through the list of blocked (or incoming, or outgoing) numbers more difficult.2. Since the unit apparently needs a minimum of 8 digits to block a number, there seems to be no way to block an entire area code or area code+exchange the way the Version 2.2 model could. Also, my guess is that some local numbers that don't display the area code might not be blockable, since they only show 7 digits.3. Similarly, there no longer appears to be a way to block "UNKNOWN" or "OUT OF AREA" or "PRIVATE" calls that don't display any numbers at all. Again, the Version 2.2 model had this capability, but the #6 function used to turn this feature on and off is used in the Version 4 model to turn >>>ALL<<< blocking on or off. (BTW: the unit I received came with this feature turned off, so I couldn't get it to block *any* calls until I found the feature in the instructions, figured out what they were trying to say, and changed the setting accordingly.)4. The instruction sheet (I won't dignify it by calling it a 'manual') is largely written in Engrish or gibberish-- not a good thing when providing info on a technical product. To show you what I'm referring to, here is what the instructions said about the problem I mentioned in the last sentence of the paragraph above this one:{Switch on or off blocking function in the lock status1. Pressing the [ Set ] key to enter setting status, LCD display "set 1234567",2. Set the telephone connected into "telephone" jack in hook-off state, and input "6" on the telephone keypad, and enter setting blocking state3. LCD will display "on" to mean the blocking function is enabled4. Press "DWN" key to switch "on" to "off", end setting lightness by pressing "REMOVE" or "SET" key.5. In lock status, disable any key operation and calls can be come. But in lock status, if blocking function is on, any key operation and call incoming will be disabled.}Fortunately, I found a slightly more comprehensible version at http://hqtelecom.com/Landline-Call-Blocker-Manual.pdf.The Quirks:1. When scrolling through the list of inbound or outbound phone numbers, if you press the "BLOCK" button to add that number to the blacklist, you will have to wait 10 seconds after the display shows "SUCCEED" before any of the buttons will work again; if you press a button too soon, you'll have to wait *another* 10 seconds until the buttons will function. Typically, when the backlight turns off, the 10 seconds have elapsed.2. As in earlier versions of the blocker, zeroes are at the beginning rather than at the end of a list. What I mean is that in a list of phone numbers, the ones with a 211 area code will appear first, then 212, 213, etc. but 210 will appear *last* instead of first. This is not a problem... provided that you remember this when looking for a specific number. All in all, it does what I need it to do, it does it better than earlier models, but there is still room for improvement.

Works well, some differences from my previous blocker along with some leakage on the first ring, but it works satisfactorily
This call blocker differs in functionality to my previous T-Blocker call blocker which I had to replace due to my previous blocker losing its memory. This one has a big lighted display and uses a power supply which ensures it won't have trouble on a weak phone line (as my earlier blocker did). It does have a little "RING LEAKAGE" when calls come in. Sometimes when a call comes in, a small amount of the first ring will leak through and the phone will ring for less than a second. As to the functionality difference, tis doesn't have an "UP" button to scroll through numbers. There is a DOWN but no UP. If you miss the number you're looking for, wait for the device to time-out and reset, then start again on your quest for a specific number. The T-Blocker had a DOWN and an UP.

The Pro Call Blocker ver 4 really works great to keep unwanted scam and telemarketing calls from ringing on our landline phone. We were getting three calls a day from just one source that would change its number every time we would block it using our Verizon account (which is limited to 5 blocking numbers). I would give it five stars if it wasn't for the poor documentation that came with it. The basic operation is really simple for selecting numbers to block and I was able to figure it out. There is always You Tube help as well. We now can have peace and quiet while we eat our family meals without those annoying robot calls !

Very annoying. Scammers know how to block numbers
I cannot block calls that don't transmit or display a number. These are calls such as UNAVAILABLE, BLOCKED, or PRIVATE. The screen displays -0- and my phone rings. Lately, I've been getting about 4 of these a day during the times I am home. Very annoying. Scammers know how to block numbers. I'm going to buy a different call blocker that can block all calls that don't transmit a valid phone number. SHAME on whoever made the decision to remove this capability from earlier versions of the Pro Call Blocker!!!!

It worked about 4 days. Then "Check on Line" on my phone. Had to put in a new line from the Pro call blocker to the phone. Then the "check on line" was gone. Latter, I dropped the phone outside on the ground. No calls came through. When I checked again "check on line" was back. I tried to remove anything either a number or any letter, or something. It did not work. Any suggestions?

It loses information in mass when you try to pass up the good calls to get rid of the bad callers
Could program the date, it would tell the phone number of who was calling. It would put a number in the block calls list. WOULD NOT BLOCK A CALL. When I reversed the phone and wall line inputs, it would block the call, but then we could not get a dial tone to call out. I put in batteries, but when I moved the call blocker to face more upward, it lost all screen information. Only after a call comes in does it allow you to block the caller. You can't program any call blocker numbers. It loses information in mass when you try to pass up the good calls to get rid of the bad callers. This machine is not worth the hassle.

Good. Works OK
Good. Works OK. I little hard to find number to block. It doesn't come up right away. I have to scroll thru all numbers to find the one I want.

Total Waste of your time and money
this product has the worst direction ever written. I was able to get the year, month, day, hour, but no seconds. In step 3 Unlock and lock blocker the directions are unclear. It states Initial power up.LCD displays"LCOK" but it does not display anything but what is already there (month, day, hour) and does not give instructions on how to trouble shoot a problem. So the unit is useless. It will not block any calls.. Total waste of time and money..
