You have to know how to use it.
Improvement Suggestions:1. Allow for recalibration based on phone casing, or any other items that could affect the distance accuracy.2. Give an option to disable the blinking LED or only on when the software is running.3. An option to increase the power or use a relay/booster of some sort.4. Look into a Bluetooth/RF hybrid option. This way, if the pet is out of Bluetooth range, you could fall back to RF technology to help get you into a closer range. For public consideration:As others have said, the range can seem to be deceiving. However, after doing some testing anything and everything can cause the range to appear wrong. I removed the casing from my phone and it improved the distance accuracy. I have a metal ID tag on my cat and that also interfered with the accuracy causing it the fluctuate drastically. The issue isn't their transponder, it is everything else in between your phone and the transponder, including the case and the pet itself. I also found out that my Bluetooth receiver isn't at the top of my phone as one would expect it to be, it is more on one of the sides. So if I hold my phone slightly sideways, I actually get a more accurate reading than I would if I hold my phone normally. When I purchased this item, I already knew that it would be more like the kids' game "hot and cold." That being said, to save battery, the transponder transmits at a slower frequency until there is a signal lock at which point it increases the frequency. If you are running around frantically you might miss your pet's signal. Use a nice calm pace and walk the outer general area and sure enough, you are bound to get a signal. From there you just walk in one direction to see if you get "hotter" or "colder." The device isn't about giving you pinpoint accuracy, it is to guide you to where your pet is. I can get within a few feet of my cat and I knew that he is there but sometimes I still can not see him, especially at night. However, at this point, he can clearly see and hear me and responds to my voice. Remember, most pets, especially cats are territorial and rarely ever distance too far from home.If you want pinpoint accuracy, then Bluetooth is not the solution you are looking for. Even then RF and GPS have their flaws especially since GPS can't get a signal if your pet is under a structure. These other options were not best suited for me and my situation. I am not looking to pay a monthly fee and those transponders are huge, cumbersome, and require constant recharging. I wanted something low maintenance and lightweight for my cat. I do not need to carry a special RF device with me or anything. At any time I just pull up the app and usually within a few minutes I have located my cat.The biggest annoyance that I have experienced with my Cat Tailer is the blinking LED. I can understand the purpose to help illuminate where the collar is but, this is very annoying especially at night when you are snuggled up with your pet and it is constantly blinking. As I have suggested above, I feel it is only necessary when I am using the tracking software. Otherwise, I have been content with the device and feel that many of the bad reviews are simply from customers who set their expectations too high or misunderstood what they were purchasing. I hope this review helps others to understand what it is they are buying and how to use it.

I recommend. Good product.
It is a very good option to track pets considering is not precise. At least, you know if your pet is in a radio of 400 ft (130 mts) or less in open view.

Peace of Mind
I have bought this 3 times. Lost count of the times I replaced the battery. It is not perfect, but it is peace of mind in finding my cat. Thank you for the video replacing the battery. I consult it every time. My cat has outdoor daytime priveleges, in a fenced in backyard. This allows him freedom and fun and can be monitored and verified.

Pros and Cons
My cat is old and we've turned him into an indoor only cat. He still tries to get out every chance he has. Since he was catnapped once already by a well meaning cat lady in the neighborhood, we ordered this. pros: the battery is always charged. It is supposed to last up to 6 months as opposed to gps trackers which are more accurate and cover distance but need constant charging. the chances of my cat escaping on the day his device was all charged and ready just defies murphy's law. So this tracker solves that issue. It also has a little blinking light that lets you know it's working. The light can be easily turned off if you find it annoying. The app also allows you to check battery. I use the light. I figure, if the collar falls off as breakaways tend to, it could help me locate it in the dark as well as the cat pressuming the collar is on. It is lightweight, quiet and doesn't seem to bother him at all. I have been able to locate him a few times when he was very close and we thought he'd escaped. Turned out he was curled up in a closet. Another time he was heading up the street to a favorite hangout where people feed outdoor strays. I was able to intercept him. cons: it isn't very accurate. As you stare at the screen while using the app, the distance will jump all over the place, from 30ft away to 135 feet, meanwhile the cat is sleeping and hasn't even moved. The same issue occurs while using the alert feature. This is supposed to tell you when your cat is leaving the preset range which is simply near or far. However, my phone is constantly dinging telling me he's leaving. Again, he's just sleeping. In both these situations, I am also not moving. It makes that feature totally useless because I will just ignore it now. The device will only help you locate your cat if you know where he might already be. If a passer by takes your cat to a different neighborhood, out of the zone, you won't be able to find them unless you are walking around close enough for it to ping. Of course they tell you this up front. But I am bringing it up anyway because of my biggest gripe: the price. It's way too expensive for what it is. The tags they make for kids are cheaper and have better tracking on the app. I can't see the justification for the high cost. The parts and technology and limited accuracy don't warrant that price tag. It feels a little predatory, taking advantage of a pet owners' love for their pet. We'd pay anything not to lose our babies, right? But this tag only eases my mind somewhat. As far as the app, it would be nice to see two dots moving closer together or futher apart as you approach your cat or walk in the wrong direction rather than numbers jumping around. If you are frantic in your search that makes it all the more frustrating. It also should have a place on the tag to add the cat's info: name, phone and address. Instead, they largely display the logo. Let's focus on the point of the device for a moment: Getting pets safely back home. The company has already made their money, why not make it so we can write our pet's name on it? Many of us don't want to have multuple tags clanging around their pets neck, especially if they are outdoors where dogs or coyotes might be drawn to the sound. I went ahead and put a small round label and wrote his info on it and covered in clear packing tape. It will need to be redone, but works for now. A printable or write on tag would solve that. I'll be checking for updates. I appreciate that this product is made by a small business and that there was a hand signed thank you in the box. Hopefully my feedback helps improve the product. I really want it to work as best as possible. :)
