Really overpowering aspartame taste
Awful strong aspartame taste, nothing like Parma violets. Great smell but tastes awful as a cordial or cocktail mixer, way too synthetically sweet.

Disgusting - zero stars if I could
WARNING!!! These products contain artificial sweeteners (saccharin)I was so looking forward to tasting this syrup, I had plans to make a cherry Bakewell tart flavoured ice cream.Oh how disappointed I was with what came out of the bottle. Overtly chemical in nature, a sharp almost paint-thinner like scent smacks you in the face as soon as you smell it which is then joined by the kind of sickly sweet smell I'd normally associate with cough candy sweets we'd buy in the 70s. If this is what the manufacturers think constitutes a Bakewell tart then frankly they've never had a Bakewell tart in their lives. The syrup is thin, its sugar sweetness is overwhelmed by the addition of saccharin which adds a horrid chemical aftertaste to what is already an olfactory assault ICI would be proud of.
