It's a life changing book. While searching for the books on the Balkans, I came across this gem. As a writer, it enriched me immensely for which I'm indebted to the author for his brilliant chronicling of events and tales spanning about three hundred and fifty years. I think God had planned for Ivo Andric to write this book. Of several novels that won the Nobel, this book ranks very high and perhaps among the first ten. I run out of the superlatives to describe the brilliance of this masterpiece.
