I'm responding here about 45 minutes after first seeing the question - because I started laughing uncontrollably from Kelly's answer, and it took that long to compose myself enough to type.

Q: Does the contour lock in place when set?

Yes it stays locked. As a matter of fact, the tines are so firm that it's actually pretty hard to move them out of place.

Q: What is the actual width able to measure or contour with this gauge? I see product description and tech details don't match up. ANYONE have exact?

Looks like somehow the metal and plastic models have been mixed up. The metal one can reproduce a contour six inches long and two inches deep.

Q: When will the 10 inches gauge will be available?
