aurifil mako 50wt thread 2 large spools in 4060x2

Q: A 1200 yard spool of 50 weight cotton thread looks like it has more thread on it than this 1400+ thread. What could be the reason,?

Aurifil 50 weight thread is finer than other brands labeled 50 weight. I use aurifil for piecing quilts because there is less bulk In the seam.

Q: what is size of cone with thread?

The cone is approximately 3” tall; diameter if bars us 1-1/4”; and the diameter of the open tube is 3/8”. I am not sure about how many yards of thread are on each spool but seems like it would be similar to a larger size of regular thread. It is a fine thread and gives off less fuzz than other cotton threads.

Q: Do the large spools fit a regular sewing machine? Mine threads under the top/lid and I’m not sure if it will fit.

I use these large (1300 meter) aurifil spools with my Husqvarna Sapphire 875Q machine. The thread spool holder on my machine is located under a lid that flips up. This large aurifil spool fits whether the lid is lifted or closed. Spool measures 1-1/4” in diameter and 2-3/4” tall. I LOVE this thread!

Q: Is the green 2870 like a hunter green color?

Search online for Aurifil 2884 (more of a green yellow) and Aurifil 2890 (more of a hunter green) and you will see the difference.
