Disappointingly Poor Quality and on Water Performance.....
Bought this motor two years ago after having basically the same motor for the previous 10 which was solid and reliable. I have had nothing but problems with this motor from the time I opened it. About two months after I bought the motor it would mysteriously stop working. I use this as my only propulsion on a trolling motor only lake so this was a real problem. Sometimes it would just stop and not run for 2 minutes sometimes for 10 or 15. Totally intermittent and not caused by the battery which was new. About a year into ownership the handle lock broke and now comes off the motor if pulled hard. I checked it and it is just a cheap plastic latch. About 14 months in the plastic transom latch broke and I had to replace it. I only use the boat once every month or so. My experience has been poor and the build quality of this motor is lacking. Would not recommend.

Superb Trolling Motor!!!
This is just a great trolling motor, in every aspect that matters! I love the continuous forward and reverse...I can really ease along if I need to or go full blast when needed. I have this motor on a 15' Duracraft that has a 15hp Evinrude as the main powerplant, so this boat/motor combo is not heavy, but with me in the back with the trolling motor, you have to learn to navigate around with subtle forward and reverse motions (especially around the docks and bridges I fish around for crappie), and this thing e xcells. It has great battery usage, and so far after a 1/2 summer of use has had no issues. I got this one to replace a failed attempt to save money by purchasing another brand (Newport Vessels) trolling motor that literally burned up after two uses! The MK is worthy of your consideration. The only possible weakness is the reverse total power, which is not as strong as it might be given how fast full power forward is.UPDATE 5/9/2017--I have been having trouble with this motor after a flawless late Fall fishing performance. When I took it out of my garage and put it back on my boat earlier this month, it would not work...no forward or reverse at all. I thought it might be my battery, but I have a new Interstate deep cycle that was fully charged. After wiggling the main power wire that goes into the head, it started working like usual, so I thought there must have been a loose connection. So I took it to the lake yesterday, and after about 20 minutes of usual good performance, it stopped working. Wiggling wires did not help! So now I will see if Minn-Kota stands behind its 2 year warranty when I take it to a service center later on today. I sent an email to Minn-Kota earlier in the week and have heard nothing back. I will update this post later with the results!

pretty sure it's the propeller
Meh. I had Minn Kota's non-variable speed 55 lb thrust motor for several years and "upgraded" to this model. As others have reported, it does vibrate moderately at high speed; pretty sure it's the propeller; and I will switch to my old weedless and find out. It does not seem to have as much power as my old 55 but maybe again it's the propeller. Oh and by the way, a 50 amp breaker is fine no need for 60. The owner of a very reliable local trolling motor repair shop has told me to beware of leaving this model of Minn Kota hooked up to the battery when not in use. Evidently a small trickle of juice is still pulled through the controller and it will eventually burn out.

Excellent Value for the Price
Positive Points1. Variable Speed Control. The main reason I purchased this instead of the less expensive 5 speed Endura 40 is because of the variable speed motor. The ability to troll at the precise speed the situation calls for has proven to be well worth the extra cost.2. Digital Maximizer. Initially I was skeptical about the manufacturer's claim that the motor would run longer by conserving battery power. After some windy days at the lake, I found that the motor will operate for a full 10 hour day and still have half the initial charge power in reserve. As a result, I no longer need to take a second back up battery for high speed operation late in the day.Negative PointPush to Test Battery Meter. At least on my motor, it does not seem to accurately indicate remaining battery life.

Increase Your Fishing Time with Confidence and Save Your Battery
Does use less battery power than the standard motor (Endura C2) but not as much less as advertised. I use it on my 8 ft Fish Cat pontoon kickboat. During a windy day with about 5 to 6 hours of fishing, my Trojan battery is discharged much less than when I used the MinnKota 30 lb thrust C2 "standard" motor. So, while I will argue that the manufacturer's claim of "up to 5X" more time is over stated, it does reliably give me 2X more fishing time for the same discharge level. Maybe a little bit more. Lower discharge levels result in longer battery life (more cycles) and gives me additional confidence on the water of getting back to the ramp when (not if) the winds come up. I have two fishing buddies that switched motor types and find the same results.

Nice little motor!
Love Hate relationship with this motor...One has never failed me... but the quality could be a little more rugged.Had a handle pull out of it's detent slot.Had lower units make whining sounds at high speed.Mount binds and pops when turning.Does go for a long time power consumption wise.Easy to maneuver and install.Pushes my 14ft jon boat with two adults and full gear no problem, got up some of the strongest currents this summer with it no problem. Does good in wind too.Love the dynamic speed control being able to in between speeds for what you need in given conditions.

Great product!
I have used this motor for a year, and it has worked perfectly! Very quiet and easy to use. The battery indicator is not very reliable but can be a little useful as it gives a general sense of how much battery you have left. It moves a 14-foot boat quiet well (in a calm area). I mainly use it to move my boat out of shallow water before I start my engine or when I want to move a small distance and it's not worth pulling over my engine. It's also not very heavy if you need to move it somewhere or take it off your boat when you're trailing it which is a plus. Overall it's a great product!

All I need in a Trolling Motor for small Inflateable
Using this to propel an Intex Mariner 4. No shortage in thrust so far, but I haven’t really used in heavy wind yet. I anticipate no problems in that regard. Using this with a Costco deep cycle battery, and have never cycled the battery under 50%, though I’m only really using this to get from spot to spot fishing (not trolling). Speed control is great. Probably more than I require, but it was a solid deal, with rebate.

Appréciation moteur Minn Kota Endura Max 55 Transom Mounted

Sturdy, long lasting, well built.
High quality product. We use it on our Intex Excursion 4, 4-Person boat. The construction is high quality and will last a long time. Simple beyond to use, and I like the weedless propeller. I have nothing negative to say and overall this product has provided a lot of fun trips out on the water. Easy to install., Just ensure you use two hands when setting the "depth" otherwise its impossible to do with one hand. Lasts us all day long.

Lot of power, with a few minor issues.
It has many fixation components made of plastic, which makes me nervous when thinking about future durability. The arm extender is a great addition, but impossible to remove once it is assembled, which makes transportation after use more challenging. The battery indicator does not seem to be very accurate so do not rely 100% on its reading. It is very quite, and pushes very well. All in all, I am happy with the purchase although perhaps I coulda been okay with a 30 pound at a third of the price of this one.

Very good pushing power
Works well, battery lasts a long time. 110AH battery lasts me about 1-2 hours at full speed. Very good pushing power. Very quiet. It took my 16' inflatable boat out into 4 foot swells without much trouble. It is not fast by any means, but it gets you there.

Vibration is bad
Vibrates like Crazy. Anything past 30% throttle. Bad enough the passengers in the front of my 14' fishing boat can feel it. Very disappointed in that. The battery life is very long with it though. That's nice.If I wasn't past the return date, I would have sent it back.

Met all expectations
Pushed my kayak trolling a downrigger for 5 hours and my group 27 agm battery still had plenty of juice left. Gets me up to 5.3 mph in a hurry. Super happy with it so far.
