This item was my first journey into TOSLINK and worked out well. I bought the basic unit without remote or volume control. It was easy to install and worked well when connected with a single cable. I tried it using various combinations of angle adapters and cables of varying lengths. It failed when the signal was weak when sent through 3 cables two keystone adapters and two right angle connectors(the light was dimmer). I suspect one of these was not cleanly assembled. I intend to buy a second one with the volume control and remote.

Used on my tcl roku tv for adding wireless headphones base station. With optical I can use both tv speakers AND device at this adapter. W/o this adapter I could only use one OR the other (tv OR. 3.5). I didn't want to explore behind tv every time I wanted to plug into tv's 3.5 port. Solved.

The unit works fine, didn't come with a DC charger for the unit, would have thought so since it requires power.
