The Rape of Kuwait: The True Story of Iraqi Atrocities Against a Civilian Population

After reading all of Jean Sasson's other books (including her most famous "Princess") I was very glad to pick up, "The Rape of Kuwait." This is Jean's first book. The author describes how Desert Storm effected the Kuwaiti people. It's atrocious, and very sad and shocking in some parts, but also a riveting tale that should be told. I could not put this book down. I look forward to reading Jean Sasson's next book as she is one of my favorite authors!!!

A very tough book, it was the first time I read something about Kuwait and it was very interesting. I really liked this book.

Heartbreaking. True to life. Required reading for those who have little understanding of this war.

This book was bought for my daughter Krissie, who is a student at BallState University. She said the book is excellent and I am taking her word on that.

An interesting little booklet. It was apparently paid for by a public relations firm hired by the Kuwati government-in-exile to entire the United States into leading a Coalition against Saddam Hussein in Operation Desert Storm. It worked. It uses all the old tools that go back to the British in WWI and the Russians in WWII. We have torture, mutilation, rape, the murder of babies, etc. A nice little booklet and an example of how torture and murder can be used to infuriate a neutral power and push it toward war. Good propaganda.

Not happy and felt totally ripped off . Small over priced paperback ,, the listing said it was hardcover. I got an old lousy paperback .and the price was outrageous for what got, I should have sent it back but I was moving .

Totally cherished this book. the link said that the book was used, when i got it, it looked very new. couldnt believe it was used !

Great addition to the Jean P. Sasson books

A book written more than 20 years ago, which when first published was banned in the USA and all Arab nations, the author draws on the humanitarian atrocities which occurred during the 1st. Gulf War focusing mainly on the women who were innocently abused, beaten and raped.The author tells the story of the tragic circumstances of the men, women, children who were tortured and killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.The author continues to draw on her experiences a she lived and worked in the middle east for more than 20 years, stories based in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Kuwait, I would recommend this book and her the books written after this which give you a genuine insight particularly of how women from Royalty to servant are treated in a society who believe the vast majority of women do not have an opinion.

I have read nearly all this author's books (I'm a great fan of hers) and found them interesting, even heart-breaking, but with a thread of humour running through them. This book is more political and I didn't like it, somehow.
