Great Addition
This item is a great addition to my other baseball figures by McFarlane. They have great detail and are well constructed. Exactly what you would come to expect from McFarlane toys and their action figures.

One of the greatest if not the greatest 3b ever
One of the greatest if not the greatest 3b ever ... McFarlane does a great job most of the time but the uniforms and details are spot on

Brooks Robinson, a.k.a. "The Human Vacuum Cleaner"
When McFarlane Toys announced Brooks Robinson would be part of its first series of retired Major League Baseball legends in the Cooperstown Collection you just knew this action figure was going to show the Baltimore Orioles' third basemen diving one was or the other. When the Orioles won the 1970 World Series it was Robinson who was named MVP, not only because he batted .429 but more importantly because he made the most dazzling series of defensive plays at the hot corner anyone had ever seen. In the first game Lee May smashed the ball to Robinson's right but he backhanded the ball when it was behind him and threw May out from foul territory. In Game 3 he turned a double play on a Tony Perez hopper and threw out Tommy Helms on a slower roller. But I swear that what we have here is Brooks Robinson diving to grab a hard liner hit by Johnny Bench in the sixth inning of that game, and you are not going to be able to convince me otherwise. This is one of the finest sculpted figures that McFarlane has produced to date, showing Robinson making one of his typical great fielding plays as the greatest fielding third baseman of all time (Craig Nettles had his moments, but nobody was in Brooks Robby's league). His white home Orioles uniform is period-specific as is the equipment, including the flip-up sunglasses. If he was going the other way we would have third base, but Robinson is determined to deny Mark Belanger another chance. Orioles fans will enjoy having this 6" figure and will just have to wait patiently for figures of Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer, and the other greats from Earl Weaver's Oriole powerhouses. Also included in Series 1 of the Cooperstown Collection are Yogi Berra, Bob Gibson, Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan, and Reggie Jackson. Series 2 is scheduled for February 2005 and while I thought you had to be a living member of the Baseball Hall of Fame that is clearly not the case since in addition to Willie Mays and Mike Schmidt there is Babe Ruth, Willie Stargell and Catfish Hunter, not to mention Cal Ripken, Jr., who is going to Cooperstown but is not there yet.
