I purchased this as it was 15 months so worked out good value. Unfortunately to get the advertised extra 3 months you have to agree to auto renew. Maybe that should be made clear.Code was delivered straight away and easy to add on to account.

I already had McAfee Total Protection and the annual subscription was up for renewal. Having been stung by McAfee's expensive automatic renewal process in the past I had turned off the auto renew function so I could do it manually.If I had renewed directly through McAfee, they wanted US$169 as their default was to upgrade to something I didn't need. I could have switched to a lower package for US$69 or bought the full Total Protection package download direct from McAfee for £69.I opted instead to get the very same Total Protection 2019 download from Amazon for just under £21 which covers up to 10 devices (other options are available for 1, 3 or 5 devices). This is the exact same product that I was already using which simplifies the process. (It automatically updates to the latest version so I started 2 years ago with the 2017 version which has updated a few times). It's a digital download and Amazon sent an activation code by e-mail within 2 minutes.I was half expecting to have to remove and re-download the software on all my devices as payback for being too tight to pay the auto renewal fee but thankfully that was not the case. I just followed the instructions to activate the code using my existing McAfee account and it immediately updated the subscription across all registered devices. Really quick and simple.They tell you it can take a day or two for the new expiry date to appear on all devices but you can refresh it manually, which I did, and it all worked perfectly.One thing to remember though is when you renew the subscription, it re-sets the renewal option to automatic for next time and McAfee process the auto renewal a month or two early just to catch you out. If you want to avoid that happening you need to go into settings to switch off the auto renewal function every time you renew. There's no way you can forget about it because you get reminders popping up every day from about 2 months before renewal date.Yes McAfee have some questionable business practices but the product works and keeps my devices secure.

Be very careful please when buying this product. The vendor has neglected to advise in the product details that this 2025 McAfee version is ONLY compatible with ANDROID 10 and above - I checked the product details and it clearly states suitable for ANDROID 9. This leaves me with 50% utilisation of my supposed 10 device deal. I have complained to McAfee Customer Services as I believe they share some culpability for this mis-selling because of not exercising enough control over their presumably licensed vendors. I have also complained & wasted 3.5 hours being bounced around Amazon CS then eventiually got to engage with Amazon Media CS themselves. V disgraceful attitude and from one of their managers at that. AVOID AVOID AVOID

McAfee Total Protection 1-Device 2025renewed my subscription plan which Ive had running for the past 3 years.Personally i haven't had any issues with the product it does find and alert if there are any issues.This can be used on a variety of operating systems so the usual Windows OS, Android, Chromebook as well as IOS and MAC.The features that come with this version of McAfee is Identity monitoring, Password manager, VPN, File shredder, Web protection, Firewall, and online support.The more advanced version does have Restoration identity and lost wallet support so if you need these features then you will have to buy the advanced version.Another feature i would have liked to have seen is the mic and webcam security which is a common threat nowadays however isn't present on the McAfee.Also if you looking at this for the family and you want parental control this is another feature you don't get.Protection wise McAfee does offer real-time protection which is one feature every anti-virus needs in my opinion which will allow the software to scan your device in real time so it will deal with any threat that may appear. Along with having a quick scan feature.Performance and effects on the system, some Anti-virus programs Ive used in the past bog down the system. so while being effective in a certain area's what the point if you can't get anything done because the system is slow to react.McAfee here was actually OK its not the best it is more intensive at scanning than other anti-viruses ive used including my current one.While this will vary between system to system this did in fact take longer to scan as well.System performance wasn't too bad it didn't bog down my system to much.Overall does whats needed, the user interface is easy to navigate and use even if your familiar with technology.
