MEDca Hearing Amplifier Ear ITC (Pair)

I like the fitment of the product. I've tried Bluetooth and hearing aid amplifiers. They eventually work their way out. This one stays out and gives continued should quality after hours.

First, the ear amplifiers came in a hard to open plastic case that did not open when I followed directions to "push and pull". It took a small pen knife to pry the case lid open (Imagine doing that each time you reached for and returned the ear amplifiers.!!) Second, the ear amplifiers have multiple design flaws that affect usability; 1) the raised design for the volume dial is too tiny and not raised enough for arthritic adult finger pads to turn the dial. 2) tiny "antennas" visible on the ear amplifier in the ad intended to make inserting and removing the ear amplifiers from the external ear canal are missing from the pair sent to me. 3) the ear amplifiers are not shaped or sized to fit inside the external ear canal. Rather, only the clear plastic tips of the ear amplifiers fit inside the eternal ear canal. ALL the black portion of the BLACK ear amplifiers (larger than your thumb nail) fill and protrude outside the external ear canal because they are bigger and have contours different than the external ear canal. They look like BIG BLACK BUGS sitting outside your ear. It would be impossible to hold a telephone receiver to your ears while wearing them. Unless you need a pair of black ear plugs to prevent water getting in your ears while showering, these ear amplifiers are a WASTE OF MONEY.

I currently use, and am dependent upon, very expensive, multi level, digital hearing aids and my reason for buying these bottom dollar hearing amplifiers was to have an emergency backup. Right out of the box one of the amplifiers did not work but I have used the other one for a couple of hours. As has been previously reviewed these amplifiers do exactly what their name suggests, it will amplify ALL sounds. It this is what you need then a working pair will do the trick for you. But, if you are like me and need help in discriminating speech ... not so good. At first the startling, hollow sound of your own voice is alarming but you can adapt to that. This product, as expected, fails when compared with my more expensive digital, programmable hearing aids. I gave this product three stars because it does amplify sounds, the three different sizes of ear pieces provided give you a chance to have a proper fit and the cost is minimal. Of course the cost would be even less if both devices worked. Due to the cost of return shipping I will not bother with returning the faulty amplifier.

I am so glad I bought these. I was quite happy at home not wearing my expensive hearing aids because they broke. I live alone and don't need too hear anyone talk to me. But, then I read an article that not wearing hearing aids when having a hearing loss creates other issues, such as increased risk of Dementia, loosing the ability to understand spoken words and increasing hearing loss. I now wear these around my house to stimulate the part of my brain responsible for hearing. I enjoy hearing the birds outside.However, I want to be very honest, I would never wear these outside as I have very small ears and I look like a Martian in them as they stick out! But they do somehow remain in my ear and are comfortable. I just sent for 30 batteries for when I run out.

Got these for my mom who is in a nursing home. She has a roommate & they both are in their room a lot during the day watching their separate tvs. They tend to inch up the volume on their sets during the day trying to hear their own tv shows over top of whatever the other person is watching. We thought this was something that could help my mom watch her tv in peace without having to turn the volume up so high. We knew she wouldn't be a fan of more expensive brands with headphones so the in-ear plugs seemed perfect. Unfortunately, these are not directional in that you can't just increase the volume for one thing. Everything was amplified instead, including the noises out in the hallway, so this didn't help her particular situation. However, I'm giving them 4 stars because in a different setting where there isn't so much background noise to contend with they would work great, especially for the price! I wouldn't recommend them in noisier settings, though, unless you want EVERYTHING to be louder.

These are the most basic of amplifiers. For instance, when I tried using them to listen to TV what I got loudest were noises from things that were happening close to me: when I picked up a piece of paper to scan what was written on it, I got very clear paper rustling sounds; when I opened a jar of peanuts and poured peanuts into my hand, I got very clear jar opening and peanut pouring noises ....Alas, I did not get good TV audio because I got noise from things that were happening between me and the television. They do amplify sounds; they do not have any adjustments that allow one to selectively amplify sounds. But for twenty-two bucks .... well, you get what you pay for. They might be ok for carrying on a simple conversation as long as there are no competing sounds. They were of no help to me.

I should have know that these were not going to really work but I ordered them anyway. They are huge and heavy. I’m a man and are way too heavy to stay in or even fit in my ears. They will literally hang outside of you ear. The sound is ONLY being amplified! EVERYTHING is being amplified and like with regular hearing, sounds that are close to you are going to be heard better than sounds further away. Example, if your at your desk typing, you are definitely going to hear your keyboard much louder than a voice across a basic size room or office, my office is 12’ x 12’ and I don’t hear a person 10 feet away say getter than I could without these. I can hear my keyboard louder than I can without these, if I could get them to stop falling out of my ears. I would not buy again nor would I recommend.
