Blink Outdoor 4 XR (newest model) – two-year battery wireless camera with 4x security coverage, 1000 ft open-air range or 400 ft with typical use — 1 camera system

Very disappointed in the range promised in Xr+ mode. Actually went back to original sync module that reached out much farther than the xr sync module. Very over rated and only works for 2 cameras. Love my blink systems and I have 5 of them but XR does not give you longer range even if you only use it for 2 cameras. I tested it with same cameras in same location and 2 less bars on camera connection. Dont buy an XR sync module.UPDATE UPDATE:Without any prodding on my part I got a call from Blink customer service and they asked if they could help me. Over the next few days they did everything they could to make the camera work. Many follow-ups without asking to make sure it was fully tested. When they determined the sync Module was bad they quickly sent me a new one. I changed it out and WOW I am good to go. Service like this is so hard to find in todays world. Blink/Amazon really came thru. Therefore yes I got a bad sync module but boy did I get great service and they took care of me. Granted my review got it started but they took the time to read it and I think they would have worked with me regardless if I had just pursued that channel first. Getting the extra range I thought I bought and I am a satisfied customer. Only thing I could add is that only 2 cameras can be used for the extra range. Still can have 10 cameras but only two that reach out and touch. Thank you Blink and Thank You Amazon.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Original sync module worked perfectly except one camera was always in and out due to it was the furthest one in the chain, I just lived with it and accepted I was out of bounds. The new sync module with extended range not only made that camera reachable and no more choppy videos when I live view the camera, but all the outer cameras respond better in standard range. I only used one XR out of two, but nice to know I have another.

Very easy to set up, even thought there is not every much in the way of instructions. The pictures and clips are very clear and it picks up on the motion very good. they mounted very easy and I would recommend this particular one if you have acreage. We have one of the camera's pretty far from the house and the extended part of the system works well. The only thing is with the one that is far from the house, you can not use the mic to speak. The value on this package is well worth it.

These cameras were easy to install and set up. The motion is very sensitive, so it has to be adjusted to personal preference. The XR+ works excellently for a 3100sqft home with a metal roof and siding for the cameras farthest from the module (through two insulated walls with metal siding). I recommend the XR+ for those with barndo homes. The only downfall is that the XR+ only supports two cameras; the other runs off the module/Wi-Fi.

Do Not trust BLINK , the camera is nice , but if you decide to Save money and use local storage and a sync module your brand new camera that worked great during the free month subscription plan will be rendered USELESS when you don't renew and pay to subscribe. Mine work perfect until after that plan ended then when I began to use my sync module XR with a SD card and blink realized they wasn't going to get anymore money every month from me , my camera repeatedly goes offline for absolutely No reason at all , no bad weather , my wifi IS working GREAT , my Camera is securely mounted, in the same exact place , my sync module is secured to the wall also in the same place as it always has been, their cameras should not do that , this seems intentional to me. And I'm not the only one that this same issue happens to, I Paid good money for MY camera , but apparently even though it belongs To me they think they have a right to sabotage it into forcing people to pay them every month , forever or it mysteriously won't work as it does when you pay for their subscription , if your looking FOR ACTUAL RELIABLE SECURITY YOU CAN COUNT ON WHEN IT MATTERS STAY AWAY FROM BLINK . the only thing they care about is securing your money in their pockets..

The image quality is quite good and the range is also good. It comes with some kind of interface device that needs to be plugged in, but it’s not clear what that thing does. My guess is the cameras connect to it and it is connected to your router. Once the system fires up, you can see images, but there is no explanation of what the images Are or how they’re generated or why. Some of the images are created as a demo for a subscription service that will need to be paid for. there is something called photo capture which is not fully explained. Sometimes there’s one logged and then a few days go by before another is. They claim it’s Instantaneous images stitched together. I turned the system on, and of course it triggered images of my family going in and out the doors. It was soon after that that I got a message from Blink app that there was excessive usage of the camera, which could jeopardize the battery life. So now I’m faced with a choice between having a security system activated or draining the battery. They say you cannot charge the supplied AA batteries but no mention is made whether I could purchase and use rechargeable batteries. Within these excessive use warnings, there are recommendations to limit the time or the scope of the security, (like only when we’re not home) but what’s the point if you have to disarm the system? Also, it would be nice if they had a link in those warnings to the exact location within the app where that could be executed. I had to hunt around a lot to figure things out.7-1-25 updating my review. I added a star because the Blink company reached out to me after reading my original review and went to great lengths to address my concerns in a series of exchanges of emails.

Having the previous generation blink outdoor and needing a couple of new cameras to add to my system, I purchased the outdoor 4 with XR sync module. So far, I am super pleased. There is better video quality and the loading times of the cameras in the app is faster! The new sync module XR is best suited at being placed higher up, like on top of a kitchen cabinet . The higher the better!
