A great storage solution to add to a mini PC for a DIY NAS
My TrueNAS Community Edition software is managing 3 Team group SSD's in RAIDZ1 with this unit. It doesn't seem to match the actual serial numbers, but it does give each drive a unique number, so it's easy to determine which is which by socketing the drives one at a time.It is a bit noisy. The nose is like a soft"whoosh" from the air being forced through a hollow chamber. Not annoyingly loud, and not an irritating sound, so it is easy (for me) to learn to ignore it.

Very well made HDD enclosure.
Overall outstanding product. I was concerned about the reports of loud fan noise, but did not find that to be the case. This is being used in my home theater for audio files and noise is not an issue. Tried hard drives on Windows 11 machine and worked perfectly. Also worked very well on Linux system (ROCK) running Roon software.

Great buy tonally noisy.
I have several "versions" of these docks for some older hard drives that I keep hanging on. This one is by far the noisiest. I have to take a star off for that. YES I want my drives to be cool but this little fan is pretty obnoxious. And This sort of thing rarely bothers me. I have 2 big unRAID servers, and 4 other full-sized PC's in this room. This little drive bay sticks out mainly because of the frequency of the fan noise. It's a little more mid-range sound which makes it seem louder than everything else. Still a good unit and a solid performer.

Nice way to use old drives lying around.
It's solid as a DAS, just what I was looking for. Hard drives boot right up and are recognized as proper internal drives in windows. Stability is there and it keeps my drives under 45 degrees. I recommend.

Convert your internal to an external HDD when you retire a computer. Easy to do.
A perfect item for continuing to use the hard drives after retiring a computer. And there's no need to security-wipe the disks. It's really easy to insert the old drive, then plug in the USB connector cable and the power cable (plug provided) and you're set with an external HDD. Works perfectly.

Excellent option to expand storage without breaking the bank!
Bought this to use with a mini PC running Proxmox, specifically a Server 2022 VM to act as a backup for my media library, documents, etc.Drives used are spare 2x 2TB and 1x 4TB WD Reds I had lying around. Getting them in the trays isn't too bad if you use the screws method by removing the plastic locking mechanisms (they just snap off). Was literally plug in and go-Proxmox saw each drive as its own USB interface, so I could pass specific ones through to specific VMs if I need to. Super easy to set up and use.Transfer rates from drive to drive in the chassis is as expected (90-110MB/s), and so far I haven't had any issues with drives disconnecting or dropping randomly. For extra storage at both this price point and convenient size (the unit is no bigger than a toaster), I can definitely recommend this product.

Check all the parts closely to be sure they are correct before connecting
Be very careful when you receive one of these. I received mine and the power supply had a right angle connector on it which would not fit properly. I tried to connect everything anyway, and nothing worked right, just flashing blue lights on the front of the unit. I requested a replacement and received it after a 2 day wait. The replacement part had the correct power supply, and what I then noticed was that the first unit had a 19 volt power supply included, when it apparently should have been a 12 volt supply, and when I hooked everything up to the new unit, I had a pulsing light on the power supply, and no lights on the front of the unit. I removed one drive at a time, and after 2 of the 4 drives were removed it started working. Apparently the 19 volt power supply that came with the first unit had damaged 2 of my 4 hard drives so they no longer work. I am now not sure how to proceed. I am hoping the company is reasonable, and will be willing to reimburse me the cost to replace my drives, even if I am also out all the data that was on them. I am doubtful that anything will come of it, but hopefully they, or Amazon will be willing to fix their mistake. I am not sure if they sent me a USED/Returned unit that someone swapped the wrong power supply in, or if they honestly included a 19 volt power supply by mistake, but either way, I am not happy that I am now out 2 drives because of it.I will say that the new unit works as it should with the remaining functional hard drives, and with the proper 12 volt power supply that came with it (fortunately), so that's a good thing. I am just extremely disappointed with the fact that the first unit arrived with an incorrect supply and caused damage to multiple drives, leaving me without the additional storage and loss of the data that was already on them. Had there not been damage to my drives I'd be satisfied with the product and how it functions.

UPDATE
I need to update my previous review. I just watched a video that showed how the smaller 2.5" drives fit in to the larger drive bays. I also re-read the instructions and now I understand.
