Book 7 and it never gets boring
This is book 7 of a seris and it cannot be read as a standalone. First, I have to say something about the audiobook, which is really great. The reading experience is actually much better with it. I preordered this but waited until the audiobook was out, then waited some more to get in the mood to read it. I loved all of the other books, and this one does not dissapoint. I found this to be a little too long and too action packed, and maybe it got to the point of being too much, but it's ok, loved it. Could not put it down. The story begins right where the last book left off, on the 9th floor, with Faction Wars. There are 9 teams: 7 aliens, 1 NPC team -team Retribution and the Princess Posse. There's a lot going on, there are some former Crawlers from previous editions, some previous authors of the Cookbook, some characters that we got to know in previous books, there is war, strategies, deaths, drama.I actually really love Samantha. Carl and Donut are great from the start, funny and all, but Samantha actually grows on you. I also really like Pony, but we don't get so much of him. We don't see Odette at all this floor. The story unfolds and we find out more about the Sponsors and other solar sistems and conflicts. It's really complex and convoluted, and I don't want to spoil it.

More...webtoon!
This is by far my least favorite of the series so far, but I don't think it's the writing because I was still really laughing. And I really want the story to continue so that's why it's still a 5 star for originality. This war story format that had so many different new characters and everyone runs over here and blows this up, then runs over there and blows that up, I found very boring. I wish these mysteries were more fleshed out instead. Instead it was these new storylines with the gods which aren't making any sense to me and just seemed a huge waste of space. Also, this is the first time Carl didn't seem like the main character. He didn't seem to have a clue the entire book. I didn't feel as invested in the characters as I usually do there was so much talk about outworld politics with no connection to the dungeon. There were so many dropped plot lines; I think it would have been better to spread it out in more books. Like do the same level from Preponente view and flesh out these plotlines. Do another book from Zevs view for this outworld stuff. But I wouldn't call this a dungeon crawler Carl book but a "Discussions of Dungeon Loopholes". Also, I kept thinking "this must be the finale" but then I had so much more to go. Then, finally! Having Emberus arrive and not discuss what happened before the floor collapsed was not cool. So I think whoever is editing this needs to be fired. The writing and originality is still awesome but this did not seem cohesive and Carl lost his mojo. When I got to the end and saw the success of the series it makes sense. This seemed rushed. This is how all great series die-success. But even if the rest of the series is terrible, I really want to see the books 1-6 webtoon! It would even be cool to see other authors write from other characters' perspectives. This world is amazing!

"He screamed right in my damn face."
"I've finished, Matt." A satisfied smirk on my face as I brought two fingers to my lips, breathed deep and exhaled, "What a glorious ride."I've been reading just about non-stop for 10 weeks, and I'm duty bound to the author to post a review. First, I will say that it is extremely bittersweet to be caught up on the series and patiently wait for the Boom to drop. This has been an exhilarating and fun read. I like that it's gritty and camp. Matt triumphs in bringing dimension to each character to reel you in as the story continues to unfold page after page in this bizarre apocalyptic situation that you can't help but get sucked in.This Inevitable Ruin takes place in thee anticipated 9th floor, which has been building up since Book One. The writing for this does hit different than the prior books; nothing wrong there. It's a war story that's also plotting into deeper territory, and I'm looking forward to what's next. You're getting CARNAGE, MAYHEM, VENGEANCE, SCHEMES, GODS, LEGENDARY LOOT BOXES, INSANE LEVELING, OFF THE WALL SPELLS, SECRETS REVEALED, and secrets unknown. In the words of Dr. Stone: "Get excited!"As soon as a Reddit whisper about Matt doing signings in Bean town happens, I'm going drive the four hours to shake this man's hand and leave with a treasure trove of hardbacks.

One of my favorite series ever.
I am an avid reader, and this whole entire series has combined everything I love about books. While it isn’t finished yet, I can just tell each new book will come with new reveals and new plot lines that will all be amazingly well thought out and very interestingA few things I love about this series specifically is the way its able to combine a decent amount of humor, with some sense of mystery and investigation, as well as exploring real world issues and how to solve them.I can confidentially say I would recommend this series to anyone I know, because it is just that good.
