You will build up a tolerance to this. Hayfever sufferer.
Been to allergy docs in the past, and they've told me you can definitely build up a tolerance to gen 2 antihistamines. It's best to use this for a few months then switch to another one for a few months and keep rotating according to their practice. I'm done with allergy shots (because of the co-pays per weekly shot, oh my goodness). So I use these when I know pollen count will be high (I check my phone in advance), and when I cut the grass/attend to lawn work. My allergies have changed over the course of my life as well, and I've lost a majority of my allergies but developed new ones, mainly to food. You can't go wrong. Further reading suggests more than one pill will not work as you want (won't make it 2x's stronger), rather your body flushes it out. Can't comment any farther than that. Also, expiration date was longer than 365 days, allowing for one per day. In truth, I doubt these expire. A US military study used extremely expired medication on it subjects and found they performed the same as those that are not expired. This does depend on the chemistry of the medicine, with some being more sensititve. I'm pretty sure antihistamines can stand up to a few years, but not half a decade.

For my dog's allergies
I purchased this for my dog for her allergies. After spending the money on the allergy test for my dog the vet told me I could purchase the antigens so she could build up a resistance to all the things she was allergic to. She's allergic to about 20 things including human dander, wool, fleas, Bermuda grass, Eucalyptus trees, cats (I have 2) and a number of other things. The vet told me I would end up spending at least $1000 on these antigens which are a series of nasal spray doses. The vet said there is no guarantee that the antigens will actually work either. So I decided to hold off on the antigens and spoke to a few friends about this. Turns out the antigens were a wash for a few people I know- a total waste of money. A friend told me she gives her dog these pills every morning per the correct dosage (google it for more info) and that her dog was allergy free! Her dog had more allergies than my dog had before giving him these. So I decided to give this a try and it works great. Within an hour of giving her the dose her eyes stop watering and keeps her good for 24 hours, sometimes longer. As far as I know there are no side effects like benadryl. They are safe to give every day with the correct dosage. I am not a vet so don't hold me to that!
