Q: Does this fit the Go pro 7 silver?

Yes. It fit my Hero 7 Black in the plastic case. It's a tight fit but it zips closed. It you put the bottom thread mount on it you can't close the zipper all the way.

Q: How does this fit the gopro hero 8? the lens that sticks out is bigger and square now, not rectangular, like the cutout on this case.

The seller answer is misleading here. I just received mine, and it is clearly NOT made for a hero 8. Yes, the 8 will fit inside the case, but the camera cutout does not fit properly. Sit the Hero 8 face down as designed, and you will notice that it sits at an angle.
