Roberts Rambler Max
Brilliant ! Only negatives are that the battery pack is thirty five quid and out of stock and only available in 2 colours, other than that, it looks lovely, sounds great and has a very nice quality feel to it 10/10

Classic Looks Modern Sound
This is a lovely radio. It reminds me of my time at school in the 70s at a school for the blind and a number of my school friends who had the Roberts Wireless For The Blind. This wonderful device is a most up to date version of those iconic Roberts Radios. It arrived in a very sturdy cardboard box. Shrouded in paper it was well protected. Two large knobs on either side do most of the work. The left being power and volume. The right is used to locate and select functions and stations. Across the top, five buttons numbered 1 to 5 for preset stations. Below the screen are five more buttons to access menus, favourites and other functions. The radio receives FM/VHF, DAB+ and internet radio. It can also connect to Spotify and Deezer, as well as aux input and USB. This makes this traditional looking radio a very modern unit. The sound is very good. Only as good however as that transmitted by the broadcasters. Let's not get into that one here. The radio is supplied with a mains lead. It can be used on a rechargeable battery which is an accessory purchased separately. In conclusion a good and impressive unit that is worthy of the Roberts name.

The best radio from Roberts in years
I'm using this radio for listening to my favourite UK and other radio stations over the Internet. But the FM side is excellent as well and the Bluetooth connectivity is very stable. The software is more stable than I found in the previous upscale radio, the Stream 94i. However, unlike the 94i you can't enter a favourites list online then access that list via the radio. You have to enter each station using the search function. But this is the only loss over the previous model. I have not tried out Spotify or any of the other input options. But I can confirm that FM, Internet and Bluetooth audio all work excellently. The audio quality is better than the 94i, and that was a good sounding radio. Also, the Rambler Max feels less...well, fragile, than did the 94i. The optional battery (FINALLY) has an internal compartment as well. And the quality of construction seems better, more solid, than the 94i.As well it should, for this is one expensive radio. But unlike the previous 94i, this one has great firmware, solid construction and great sound. I'm thinking about getting a second one!

happy
I have both the istream 3L and this rambler max. I had not listened to radio in a long time for the same reason I don’t watch TV or pay for legacy newsprint media, as much of the content is agitprop and there are better ways to live. The leading reason to shell out for this was internet radio and both of these radios do this well. I can her many things in songs that I never knew were there before. The istream3L has a more radio sound and better aesthetic. The rambler max has better sound fidelity I think, eg playing bluetooth from phone. The main downside for both is that the plug inserts underneath rather than at the rear. That’s not retro in a good way. It’s clinically retarded and needs the heave ho.For Australian based potential buyers, you can’t buy this directly from the UK due to idiotic legislation about electronics which I expect means insurance problems for the manufacturer. I managed to get the istream3L from ebay for the retail price all up and the rambler max here as a resale item - for a very brief time there were a batch of them at the amazon eu warehouse, meaning that it could be bought and at a 25% discount, though with 2 tiny cosmetic imperfections in the grille which you’d only see close up if looking for it.If you are up for an internet radio, both of these do this job well. The undok app is intuitive and setting up the radio to wifi was simple.

Internet Player
This is a very 'up-rated' model to the one I had some 15 years ago and it plays better than ever! It took a little while before it finally paired up with my router by 'Origin', but it was worth it! My only complaint is the battery pack to enable the radio to play 'wire-less' is not available at this time. Not a problem really, I'll continue using it plugged into the electric outlet. An absolute 'winner' in my estimation!
