I started using this when the algae situation in my reef tank got bad, it definitely helped and I've been adding it to my tank every time I do a water change since then and have seen great results.

Claims to start the tank cycle but this never occurred with our tank. Paired this purchase with their ammonia chloride to feed the bacteria.Readings never budged from 2ppm ammonia. 0 nitrite. 0 nitrate.We were doing a fishless cycle so expected it to take awhile, however the cycle never even began.Buyer beware if you're looking for a decently paced fishless cycle. Product doesn't do as it claims.
