Great guide to fasting , but not as good as the Obesity Code
Pros:1. Dr. Jason draws on a wealth of medical research and knowledge to substantiate his claims2. Insightful and practical read into fasting3. Useful fasting programs and schedules listed in the book to follow4. Practical experiences shared by many others on their experience around fastingCons:1. A lot of it is very repetitive if you've read his other book, The Obesity Code2. Felt like the other author was all anecdotal instead of empirical, which detracted from the authenticity of the discussion3. Not much discussion on combining fasting with keto - the benefits if any, the methodology, effects of carb loading, recipes etc would have been good to have as that would have made it a lot more comprehensiveOverall worth a read, but if you can read only one book on this subject, you should read The Obesity Code by the same author.

Informative, cover all the aspect of fasting.Also indicate how fasting cure Disease.Strongly recommend to every one just go through this book.

Amazing concept and is helpful
I have been following the fasting regimen as per my Ramadan fasting but never thought about intermittent fasting. I used to lose weight and then regain. Ramadan is more of food for the soul. I was a good 92 kg with a waist size of 46. IF is more for the body.After following Jason fungs videos and this book I have been able to bring down my weight to 78 and waist size to 40. My Diabetes A1C is down from 8 to 6.4. I have done maximum 36 hours fast along with other smaller IF variants. Now planning to go for 7 days one. Praying to God that I enjoy it. Do pray for me. Thanks Jason!

Fantastic Book
It's an eye opener!! I think anybody and everybody who wants to eat healthy must read this book. Completely new learning for me.

THE DIABETIC MYTH AND FASTING CURE
The best book by Dr.Jason Fung "The Complete Guide to Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting" which explains about the existing myths,fictions and scientific fallacies about the dreaded dis eased disorder called Diabetic , more specifically Type II,and explicitly explained by the author how the disease was allowed to manifest,spread,invade and damage the entire human economy from time to time. The author further offered his scientific explanation why Diabetic is only a simple life style error and disordered by the refined carbohydrates and low fat diets. The author affirms that "Diabetic" is neither genetically inherited nor a progressive one as termed "incurable" as has been voiced for over 100 years by the so called medical intelligentsia of the world and perfectly clarifies how well monitored fasting ensures absolute safety from Diabetics Type II than the best "palliative care" available in whole of this earth.

Good book but the research is all anecdotal and skimpy
Doesn’t bother to refer to other clinics and their results. Scientific support completely lacking. No studies or trials done.Thoroughly vague on certain points. For example if you start fasting and eating much better and you lose weight when you have type 2 diabetes many people will require less or no medication. The question is if you lost 50 pounds on any diet and then ate the same food, would your sugar levels be lower for that particular meal if you had achieved the weight loss through fasting rather than diet.Also some clarifications required; for example the bone broth recipe has no meat but another section of the book says meat is allowed so the question is how much meat.Fascinating, compelling but not clearly substantiated.

Doctors don't get taught about fasting as a therapy. Now they can find out.
I learnt so much about fasting from this book! This is a clean, easy read and I recommend it to all my patients, friends or family interested in fasting. I have always felt the need to maintain balance between allopathic prescription and healthy lifestyle change, practicing on the principle of getting patients onto as little medicine as possible. The goal is best health through medically supervised lifestyle change! This book helps anyone interested in reversing chronic disease through fasting. Dr Fung includes input from fasting all-stars, fasting tips, what to look for, how to co-ordinate fasting with your doctor if you have any medication that needs adjusting, and so much more! I love how he explained so clearly how insulin resistance is the issue, how metabolism is affected by fasting versus dieting, and various types of fasting. I've read many books on 5:2 diet, nutrition, exercise, obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes- of them all, this is the book I am telling everyone to read! Medical curricula and clinical societies mostly talk about prescriptions going up, up and up. Not with this approach.

Highly recommend this book for fasting beginners. It clear all the myths about fasting in my mind after read this book. I wish I could’ve read this book earlier.

断食バイブル
歴史からやり方、医学的な効用に至るまで断食に関する情報を網羅している。特に断食のインシュリン反応への効果や、進化論的な観点からの断食と食事制限の違い(食事制限は代謝を落とすが断食はキープする)等々、ダイエット目的かどうかにかかわらず、断食に関する興味深い記述が満載されている。(インシュリン機能の解説に東京のラッシュ時の写真が掲載され、電車が細胞、通勤サラリーマンが血中脂肪、必死で押しこんでいる駅員がインシュリンとか読んでて結構笑えます)。たまに自分も断食しますが(せいぜい2,3日ですが)、しんどくなってきたときに復読すると不思議と空腹感が和らぎます。時間があれば同著者のThe Obesity Codeも読んでみたい。

All down to the great man. I will be buying everything he writes
Please read this. I was on the border of needing insulin. Going downhill fast.Diabetes was out of control.I came across Dr.Fung on youtube.Doing what he said within a couple of weeks blood sugars were normal. My GPs wanted to know how I had "cured" myself. All down to the great man.I will be buying everything he writes.Books great. Arrived on time. 5 star.

Have currently lost 5st7lb on this plan, bringing my bmi into the ok range despite being in a wheelchair and unable to excerise. My mother has lost over 3 st and reversed her diabetes, she is no longer on medication
