Top-Notch Fault Finding Topdon Code Reader
Having experienced a few faults with my aging Ford Focus - blinking warning lights all over the display console - I was struggling to keep my cool; one day, it was the yellow MIL warning, next day it was a 'Transmission Failure' and the next day it was battery indication showing failure. Faced with the prospect of taking the car to a dealer and paying up to £100 for an analytical scan, I decided to plug in the new Topdon OB2 Tester.Simple to use - a delight to use, actually - it booted up from the get-go, told me what the faults were, and cleared all the fault codes, with ample aplomb. I'm not too technical-minded, but the Topdon had so much information built-into its system that it's a gizmo you can use straight from the box. It's so impressive for numpties like me, and the information it relayed as to the state of the car's systems was displayed in a suitably understandable and user-friendly manner. There's just too much for me to go into detail, but I guess most users will use it for OBD Fault Code identification and clearance - and the Topdon does a fantastic job at both. There's so much more: data regarding your own car that you can download and read; maintenance help and suggestions; and a whole plethora of related info that is specific to your car - right down to the VIN number.Sure, an information leaflet comes with the Topdon, but to be honest, guys (and gals) you won't need it; just plug and play. The Focus, cured of all Code Faults, ran for another week or so, then started displaying flashing lights again; narrowing down the cause, I suspected the soldered joints at back of the display unit were compromised (a common Focus glitch) and, sure enough, after re-soldering the offending items, it was back to normal again. But the Topdon again earned its stripes by clearing remaining Fault Codes caused by the glitch. It's as small as a cigarette packet, as light as a feather, and fits in your glovebox, pocket, wherever. Take it with you, fix your car's faults without paying exorbitant garage fees, and never look back. Foolproof, essential, and up to the usual Topdon quality standards - which I swear by. This tool, worth its weight in gold, and a lifesaver if you ever get stuck out in the countryside with a Fault Code, should be part of everyman's tool kit.It talks to a mobile phone or laptop, using Bluetooth, so the information is clearly readable and acted upon, and I would give this tool a 5/5 score for quality, usefulness and instantaneous results. Get one, you won't regret it.Giving it a high score is easy enough, as such Topdon products seem to be perfection in what they do.Quality: 10/10Usefulness: 10/10Handiness: 10/10

Small but mighty
Anyone looking for a cheap little diagnostic tool needs to look no further.IF you are a car enthusiast or a DIYer working on your own car then the Carpal from Topdon is absolutely spot on. The scan tool is a little dongle that goes into the EOBD port, then everything else is done via an app on your phone. The interface is easy to use and features plenty of useful information. It has a DLC location menu, which shows the location the the DLC connector.TSB information, search the manufacturer and select which system you want the Technical Service Bulletins for, which can really help with some diagnostics.A warning light library, which allows you to select a particular warning light and gives information on possible issues causing the light to illuminate. And a DTC search option. This is brilliant. Scan your car via the app, retrieve the codes, then use this menu to find what the code means. In here it gives information on reported fixes and tips on how to diagnose it.Connectivity is quick and easy, however, you need to register to Topdon, so once you have plugged in the dongle and got it connected, create an account which is quick and easy, then once the vehicle VIN is selected it downloads the software needed to perform the all the tasks, I had to go back in the house on the WiFi as it was over 800mb and taking a while to download. Once done, everything was quick and easy to use and navigate.I was really impressed with the performance of such a little tool and the app is brilliant. Quick and easy to use etc. It is a shame you can only use it on 3 vehciles, but if you are looking for a cheap diagnostic tool that packs a punch and you are on a budget, this tool is ideal, especially if you want it for your own car.Its small enough to fit in the glovebox so if you're ever on a journey and get any warning lights illuminate on the dash, it will only take a minute and you will have the information required as to what is potentially wrong.Overall I think the value for money is really good and like I said, if you are looking for a cheap tool for your own personal use on your own car (or 3) then this tool is spot on.Well done Topdon

Brilliant Little Bluetooth Dongle Less Than £50.
I was very sceptical when I purchased the TopDon CarPal I thought it was just a OBD II dongle that could only read the engine control unit on my vehicles but to my suprise it read every control unit on my vehicles.I do have the TopDon ArtiDiag 900 Lite as well which I use for my work in a garage but this is so handy to keep in the glovebox. It is very easy to set up once you download the application from your phones application store. It's not as fast as my diagnostic tool but for the money I can't fault it, if you like to maintain and repair your own car you won't go far wrong with this product.Hats off to TopDon for making a dongle which you can use with your phone that will read every control unit for less than £50.
