Q: What s the difference between this and the regular? The description on amazon doesnt even make sense...

ADVANCE is supposed to help plant health BUT it truly is made to fight algae growth. If you read the description here on Amazon you will see the companies description. So for some that say they have seen no change in the plants should evaluate any sight of algae growth. I am excited to add this to the original Flourish so that as I am feeding plant growth I won't be providing a banquet for an algae dance off in my 3 planted tanks. (;-)

Q: Will this hurt cherry shrimp?

Im not sure, i use it in a 90gal that has 14 amano shrimp and 3 bamboo shrimp but i use small doses, i don't do what the bottle recommends

Q: Do I still need root tabs for root plants in inert substrate if I use advance (along with the rest of the flourish line for the other plants)?

That depends on the specific plant. Most aquarium plants have roots, but not all of them feed from the roots. Rotalla Rotundifolia is an example. It is a rooted plant but feeds from it's leaves. So in short, yes you may still need root tabs. You'll have to research the individual plants you're trying to grow.

Q: Is this good for marimo moss balls?

Marimo balls are actually an algae, which this is supposed to inhibit growth of. So, no, I don't think this will be good for them.

Great product, go for it!
