Wow! An impressive piece of technology!
Wow. Super impressed. I've owned a Roomba 690 early on which is as basic as it gets for a robot vac. Then I upgraded to an Ecovac Ozmo T5 that was a step up from the Roomba and it has a pretty basic mopping system. Then upgraded to an Ecovac Ozmo T8 Aviv which I then upgraded its basic mopping system to the pro mopping system for the unit. While both Ozmos did well. Mopping performance was "OK". The mopping systems had to be manually connected and the device had to be placed one the floors you wanted mopped. It was smart enough to know carpet from hardwood/vinyl floors but you still had to intervene to add the mopping unit and move the vac to hard floors. This unit on the other hand...9/10 Vacuum8/10 Mopping9/10 Mapping your home8/10 Obstacle avoidanceWhat I really love about this unit that sets it apart from my older units...1. No user intervention. It will vacuum, empty the dust bin into its base, and will proceed to mopping after. It does it in a very intentional way. It starts with my carpets (vacuum) then moves to hard floors vacuuming first, then mopping. The absolute best part is I don't have to attach a mopping unit or move it from carpet to hard floors. In the app, you have two options to transition from vacuum to mopping. (1). It can raise the mop pads so they don't touch your carpet. (2) It can return to the base after vacuuming drop off the mop pads then transition to carpet. When it's done with your carpet, it can return to the base install the mop pads and proceed to mop. I prefer this because it eliminates the risk (depending on the height and type of carpet) of dragging wet pads over your carpet. Based on what I've seen, while it can raise the mop pads, they're not nearly going high enough to not drag on your actual carpet. Maybe they're high enough for a floor mat, but not actual carpet. So, I prefer to have it drop the mop pads.Bonus Points.- The base has two tanks. A dirty water tank and a clean water tank. Clean water tank is for mopping, the dirty water is what it picks up after it's spinning mop pads do their thing. There's also a solution holder inside that mixes with the clean water so no need to actually mix the solution in the water.- The base heats the water for better cleaning!!- The base has its own dust bag where the vac empties itself by way of suction inside the base.- Unit will return periodically to the base if it gets full on dirty. Or, again, return to the base to clean the mop pads by using clean water, some sort of plastic bristles that spin, drain, wash and dry the mop pads. It will do this repeatedly during the cleaning of your floors to ensure the mop pads are always as clean as possible. In other words, after a while it will go back to the base, clean the mop pads and continue mopping.- The vac has a corner brush as do most robot vacs. But this one has the brush on an arm that extends out automatically when it detects a corner to get those hard to reach places.- It doesn't end there. It also swings out it's mop pads automatically so that it too, can clean around objects or corners.- The white version is super classy and fits my home decor. The base isn't as big as I had thought, but you will still need to find a suitable location for it near an outlet on the hard floors, not carpeted.- There's a water hookup kit so you never have to fill the water tank. I think it also will empty the dirty water tank (not sure about the dirty water part). This is a nice feature though I'm not sure how many people would be able to leverage this. You'd need a water source to connect to and an outlet near by. Not suitable for most I suspect.- EXTREMELY quiet compared to my other models when vacuuming and almost unnoticeable when mopping.- It has the intelligence to cross a threshold by first trying to go head on. If it fails, it hits the threshold from an angle at a faster speed. If trying to cross a threshold to mope, it will even lift the mop pads to help it get over that hump. *Caveat: if you have the mopping set to high it may still struggle to cross a higher threshold because the wheels slip.*Technology is moving quickly. I also bought a robotic lawn mower with no perimeter wire that also collects and dumps leaves! Wow. But even that can't compare to this piece of technological prowess.Work smarter not harder.** UPDATE 4/7/25**I've actually added a star because this DREAME vac and mop is truly a DREAM! I have luxury vinyl floors that no matter how many times I mop it, I can still take a napkin and wipe the floor and come up with dirt. While this unit hasn't completed got rid of that issue, it's 90% better than even when I manually steam mop my floors. That's impressive.I also love the option (if I didn't mention this before) that stops the spinning brush from spinning when it's on carpet. Anyone that has owned a robot vac knows that the one corner (or two depending on model) sweeping brush still rotates on carpet which eventually over time bends the bristles on the brush making them less effective. This unit can not only raise the corner brush when on carpet but also there's a setting to keep it from spinning on carpet. They've seemed to have figured it all out! While I've read complaints about the app being unintuitive, I guess that depends on your technical prowess. I'm an Information Technology Executive, so I personally found it pretty straight-forwards, though I do concede, there are a lot of options in the app that could be off-putting for some. And yes, no manual came with the device.

Best Robot Vacuume I have Owned
I started buying robot vacuums back when Romba S9 was the best of the best. While I loved my S9 for raw power it lacked in many other areas I had to move on. Since then, I have had mostly Roborock vacuums. I have owned the S6, S7, and S8 and while I stayed with them mostly for the dual rollers, it seems like overnight robot vacuum evolved, and now they were moping and raising mopping pads with a camera to locate pets and all kinds of bells and whistles side mopping and on and on.I tried the Dreame X30 and while it was a great vacuum it did not seem to have the same raw power as the Roborock Q Master. The Roborock Q Master sucks at object avoidance. No matter what I did or what settings I selected it would not avoid anything. I know no robot vacuum is perfect but the Q Master is listed as being smart and has a camera in theory should help it avoid cords and socks and dogs, but it does not.I picked up the L40 Dreame on sale and have been in love since. It has the raw power like the Q Master but is way smarter. I was so tired of looking around before I ran my vacuum I would clean to clean. The L40 is so much better not only does it run like a dream but I have not had it once get stuck or get something stuck in its roller. It vacuumed under my couch and then in the app at got a notification that I might have a missing item under there, it even took a picture of it so I could decide if it was worth going after. And for the 1st time besides my Romba S9, the vacuum will come back when it is full and empty itself and keep going. I have a Beagle and she shads like crazy if I skip a day of vacuuming other vacuums would get full but keep vacuuming even though they were no longer picking anything up.The mopping is also top notch and not only does it push one mop pad out to the side but it will also wiggle to get even closer. After mopping it will clean and let you know if the water was dirty enough to mop again and then go do it. The only problem is it only does this with genius clean not customized. Also, the side brush no longer spins on the carpet by default. You have to do some trickery to get it to spin on the carpet. Which is stupid to me, I looked around and they saw this is because it's not really needed on carpet and keeps the motor from burning out. I do not agree.I would give it 5 stars but Amazon delivered it to me damaged, and will not replace the item they just want me to return it for a refund. The problem I got it on sale close to Prime Day and it is no longer on sale. So, if I returned it, I would have to pay more to buy it again. If it was a small amount like 25 bucks, I could see that, but it’s like 350. The policy does say I can get an item replaced within 30 days but they are not budging. Everything works besides the cleaning solution injection. So, if you are thinking about buying it, I would say pull the trigger. If you can buy it from someone other Than Amazon that’s even better. Since they will punish you if you happen to find a deal on their site.Update****While I could not get Amazon to do the right thing and replace the item without me returning it. Dreame support has stepped in and has been nothing but pleasant to work with. I wanna be clear the 5 stars are for Dreame and the L40. Their customer support and their vacuum have been a dream to work with it. I can not recommend them enough. If you are on the fence about buying a robot vacuum from Dreame, I would say pull the trigger. The vacuum is top-of-the-line filled with the best tech. Customer support has been fast to reply and very easy to work with. Until the X50 comes out I am staying with the L40.*********Update*********Still one of the best robot vacumes you can buy hands down and I would buy it again if the X50 was not out :) (I would love to review the X50 Dreame if you are listing) and it seems to be improving itself like it is learning, hear me out. I have two small dogs one that is afraid of its own shadow and another one who could care less about the vacuum. When I 1st got it I was cautious around both both dogs taking what seems like 1000 of pictures of them, even if they were not in the frame all the way. It would slow down if they walked in front of it, it would give them both a wide birth as if it was unsure as to how the dogs would react. Fast forward to today and I no longer get out of 100 pics of them in the app. The vacuum knows that it can get right up next to my dog who does not care and clean around her. But it knows to slow down when the other dog is laying in the middle of the floor because it knows he will get scared and move at the last minute. I swear iuts almost like it is learning and thinking.
