Very good
While the fill ins by Pamela Cox will never quite match up to the Enid Blyton originals, they give it a very good go. She recreates our favourite characters very well, and life at St Clares is as demonstrably the same as Enid created it. I have one or two grips (notably 'Mum' 'Dad' as opposed to Mother and Father which Enid always used) but suspect that Pamela wrote slightly more in the modern idiom and used those from habit rather than deliberately changing. I enjoyed the stories very much.

INCREDIBLE
I chose a five-star rating because this book is great about some new day girls called Libby and Fern. Libby's brother is called Will. Carlotta is head girl of the third form and begins as director of the end of term play but a new girl called Rachel takes over. There is plenty of fun and sadness since Fern does some pretty horrid things to Carlotta and Rachel who she really dislikes but eventually is Okay. I would recommend this book to nearly anyone who has read the second form at st clares.

Reading time shared with my granddaughter
I have shared the St Clare stories with both my granddaughter and my own daughter. I read them mainly at bedtime and emphasised the italicised words and made sure I read them with enthusiasm. My daughter is now a teacher and my granddaughter is an extremely good reader who, when she reads out aloud, uses much expression making the stories so much more exciting. Her love of English seems to have been formulated from these early bedtime reads.

Delighted with this book
As a fan of Enid Blyton I was delighted to find that an author had added to the original books. Enid is a hard act to follow however Pamela Cox has done a marvellous job of recreating my favourite characters.

Nice to return to St. Clare's...
Whilst the Pamela Cox fill in St. Clare's books do not have quite the same charm as the original Enid Blyton books, they are worth getting for completeness of the series. However - I have two real beefs with these new books. A) Too much use of newer words and phrases (like mum instead of mother). If you read them between original Granada versions, for example, they don't quite flow. Further, these books are from the '40s and '50s and that's where they should remain being based. I do not believe that they need modernising. B) These new cartoony covers cannot compete in any way to the older, more realistic covers of the '80s, and previous to that. The original characters (Pat, Isabel, Carlotta, Hilary, Bobby, Mam'zelle, etc.) are very well rendered.

Really fabulous.....
As I always say that these st. Clare's books are never there on my shelf they are always in my hands. This one is also one of the wonders of the st. Clare's series. It consists of many mistakes learnings, adventures and misadventures and every little sentence can make you happy. I really ,very recommend this book.

「おちゃめなふたご」シリーズの第5作です。邦訳されているシリーズとは作者が違い、雰囲気も少し変わります。3年生になったふたごたち。クラスのまとめ役には意外な人物が選ばれます。新入生をまじえて微妙な人間関係が展開されますが、最後にはすべてうまくおさまります。物語の設定に元のシリーズとやや食い違いがある点で多少の違和感はありますが、共感の持てる物語になっています。
