You shouldn't do that. Ozone is a recognized lung irritant and is corrosive to all kinds of surfaces, especially leather and plastics. In other words, plastic surfaces in the area will break down and become yellow and brittle. Indeed, the government (FDA) recommends against using ozone generators, although ozonated water is a lot safer than ozonated air. Consumer Reports has had some excellent articles on the topic. Google "ozone generator safety.'

Q: does everyones unit continue to run after the timer is off? Just got it but concerns me.

Yes it will run after the timer shuts off. As other reviewers have noted, this dries the line, ceramic and extends the life of the unit.
