Hard to put on.
I'm 65 and I find them somewhat difficult to put on. I have to get help to get them on. They also make my legs sweat a great deal. On a positive note they are well made and should protect me when I'm fishing from the bank.

Not my best solution but….
I would rather wear snake proof boots but I can’t pull on the boots, even a pair I had with zippers. My legs cramp up when pulling the boots in. So these gaiters are the next best things. No doubt they will foil any snakes fangs. First thing I did was put on my ankle high hiking boots and then put on the gaiters and made all the adjustments. Now that they are “fitted” I am all set. Nice thick material and well made. I like them.

I don’t see the problem with them
A lot of people are saying they were bad to use and they were hard digging into their shin or whatever it is, but I find it very comfortable and easy to work with. Also, they are very very waterproof. Haven’t gotten by snake yet but if I do, I’ll update it with a protection.

Not safe.
Every seam has about a 1/4" gap. I was easily able to puncture through. I would not roll the dice with this product. I have Water Moccasins and Copper Heads on my property. With this product I do not feel safe walking around. Anyone know where I can get some solid leather ones?

Very comfortable
These are a lot more comfortable than the older wrap around plastic style that I once owned. Unfortunately I do have plenty of snakes in my area and I don't go anywhere without these. Definitely a safer way to walk through high weed areas and in the woods.

Good overall coverage but a few gaps make them not 100%
These gaiters consist of a main nylon stitched material with rigid plastic panels inside. In general these look to be resistant to snake bites, however there are a few spots where there is no plastic panel and you will only have the nylon material between you and the snake fangs. For the back of the gaiters this is likely okay as you will have two layers of panels that overlap and the gap will likely be covered by one layer or the other. In a few other areas along the sides there will be no overlap and thus you won't have the rigid panel protection. So, this begs the questions, if the material alone is enough to resist a snakebite then why do some areas have panels, and, conversely, if the panels are needed then why do some areas not have panels?Overall these offer a lot of protection and you'd have to be pretty unlucky for the snake to hit the gapped sections at just the right angle to get through... but it's something to be aware of.
