This works where other devices don't
For years used a "Next Generation 3-EYE Infrared Remote Control Extender" to control a tivohd in another room. The half-sized battery would not hold a charge or, for some reason, it just stopped working well, and the two replacements, too. This, however, works great. Consistently. The instructions are pretty spare, and in tiny print. The two plugs are labeled TX and RX. Just remember the the TX plug goes on your TV ("T" for Transmitter) and the RX goes on the device you're trying to control ("R" for Receiver).

Perfect
Cheaper, but more reliable than a wireless remote extender.I am using this with a powered HDMI splitter. It did not work "through" the splitter, transmitter and receiver on opposite sides of the splitter. But works great on either side of long HDMI cable to TV in next room up to the splitter. If you need to extend a IR remote to another room AND you already have an HDMI cable between the two, this is what you want.

Works very well, but IR jack along thin side of HDMI adapter limits room for adjacent HDMI cables
I have an A/V rack in a dedicated closet that houses the receivers, source components, amplifiers, power conditioners that service three rooms. A universal remote control base station is also housed inside the closet. The handheld remote communicates with the base station using radio frequencies. In order to send IR signals from inside the cabinet to various TVs and projectors, I attached this HDMI IR injector on both ends of HDMI cables. Everything worked well...The HDMI ports on most A/V receivers are arranged horizontally with a narrow gap between each port. Because the IR 2.5 mm IR jack has to be plugged into the supplied HDMI adapter along the thin side of the adapter, there's not enough room left for the adjacent HDMI cable.Fortunately I had an HDMI L-adapter lying around, and was able to circumvent the problem by attaching the original HDMI cable to the supplied HDMI adapter, and attaching the L-adapter in front of that.

Works Perfect
This was easy to set up and works very well. Never thought for the price this would work so well, recommend it highly.

Be careful to side connector for IR.
Works great, but I had to use a HDMI 4 inch extender because of the side connector. I had one laying around, so cost me nothing. I am using it to control my upstairs Camera DVR from my downstairs TV over a 60 foot HDMI cable, (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01067WDTM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

Seems like a cool set up but didn't work for me
Didn't work with my combo of device/TV and remote. Bought another kind and worked better. The relay using the HDMI adapter for power didn't do what it seemed like it could.

Set the switches to IR
After installing it did not work. After setting the switches to IR it worked perfectly. Only issue is placement of the IR transmitter and receiver at the right location on my equipment. Just had to move them around a bit for my original remote to work good as well as the IR transmit/receiver.Works well for my application.
