Upgrade from N9, worth it
== TL;DR:Improved quality-of-life changes over previous iterations (compared against N9), new features, and 'better' battery fwiw.== Summary:This is an upgrade purchase I made going from my Nicron N9 to L71; the old one still works just fine. This flashlight in comparison resolves a few minor issues I had with the previous version by adding in a USB-C charger built-in to the frame of the unit, and mounting the magnet inside the battery end-cap instead of being press-fit on the outside.== Pros:* Build Quality - Exceeds my previous Nicron by moving the magnet location to inside the end-cap; whereas the N9 had the magnet press-fit outside, thus preventing wear and tear to the protective coating of the magnet. Magnet strength is slightly diminished, but not enough so that it makes a difference and I 100% appreciate this change... I had concerns that eventually the magnet on the old unit would crack and start to come loose from its fitting.Pivoting of the head-assembly seems as smooth as the old one; though i would note the old one would require occasional electrical contact spray cleaning approximately every year or so to ensure continued operation.* Battery/Battery Life - Unknown for the new unit at this point, as I used unprotected cells with the old unit and this one came with a protected cell that I will be fielding for the foreseeable future. It should be noted that when I asked the seller what the battery size was, they reported it was a 21700; this is incorrect in my experience as the unit I received included an 18650 protected cell. This is what I typically use though, and so do not consider it a mark against the flashlight.* Size - Almost as compact as the N9, the L71 has a few millimeter positive difference at the head of the unit, where I plastic light-ring has been included. Not nearly enough of a change to be an issue, and I find the light ring inclusion a net-positive.* Cost - Considering what I received, it feels worth the money spent if all other things are equal to my previous iteration's experience. Time will tell in this regard, but I have not been led astray as of yet by Nicron's products.== Cons:* Build Quality - As previously mentioned, I've once in a blue-moon had to clean the head-assembly pivot point with electrical contact spray cleaner on the N9 version. Nothing from what I have observed in the L71 has led me to believe this will change, but I feel that is in the nature of the beast of mechanically-actuated angle-change flashlights, so do with that what you will.I do not care for the rubberized/PVC-like non-slip grip material, and will likely remove it from my L71 and replace with a custom leather grip. I would have preferred metal knurling like on the N9.I also have yet to get the "lock mode" to actually engage in all the testing I've done thus far, but considering my use-case, this is a non-issue for me.* Battery - Be aware: 18650, not a 21700 as reported by the seller when I posited the question to them. Moreover; ensure you're getting quality batteries from a reliable source.* Cost - I'm a cheap son-of-a-gun and the $40 I paid still made me grumble (10% off at time of purchase for me), but them's the breaks if you want something that will last years (as has been my experience).== Asides/Personal Notes:Highest setting for the standard lighting seems brighter than the old N9 I had, I like that.Thermal output at higher lumens is absolutely noticeable; though I typically only run it at the highest setting when it's a cooler ambient temperature anyways. I kept the old N7 in my pocket as an EDC, and intend to do the same with this. I usually keep the unit on lowest setting before turning it off and have not had an issue yet.I have concerns regarding the rubber plug used to protect the charging port eventually failing (either from wear or age), but it should be something that can be mitigated.I have moved the pocket-clip from the new unit to the old one, and the pictures attached show this fact.

Very Bright Light with Strong Magnet!
Title of review says it all.. This light is extremely bright, which is awesome. It's so bright sometimes I have to keep off high in electrical cabinets, or it just bounces back off metal blinding me (just for a second). I really like the brightness, especially when working in the dark, at certain times. The magnet is very strong! It's absolutely perfect for not falling off, or moving on its own. The charging port is easy to access, and uses a type c like most things now. This is absolutely perfect for my needs, and if you need those qualities in a flashlight, it will be perfect for you too. Hope this helps someone.

What I needed!
Needed a magnetic flashlight and ended up being this one for the cost and value to lumen ratio and the build materials and I can say I was not disappointed with the brightness and the various modes it has with the 4 diffrent brightness setting and the 2 settings in red light mode being solid red and flashing red to the strobe mode and SOS mode. The quality of the flashlight is amazing for the price I even bought a second flashlight.

Lasted about two weeks
At first when purchasing the light i was fantastic my favorite one due to its compact size and how bright it was battery life was amazing as well magnet strength was an over all 10 i thought the quality was good but after two weeks it gave out on me. I work as an industrial maintenance technician a bit clumsy at times so it would slip out of my hand time to time thought i found the one but at first i noticed the swivel started getting loose on me didnt think much of it till the light stopped working only function that would work was the red function

Minimalist design, very functional
Very handy light! I keep it with my military gear for when we go to the field! The different brightness modes and red light capability are very useful. Also, with the swiveling head, it goes from being handheld to being handsfree being a great bonus and reducing having to have another flashlight that could be bulky.

Just Eh…
A nice flashlight, rotation is nice and useful, it’s also quite bright when fully charged. The on/off button is a bit awkward to press. I gave 3 stars is because the clip it comes with barely holds. I’m a first responder so I had it on my radio strap. Every time I put minimal pressure it would fall to the ground, the protective screen broke off multiple times. Had to return the first one because of exposed wires due to the protection screen being broken and the second one got lost because it fell out and I didn’t notice until it was too late. I gave up and spent $100 on an angled streamlight which was 20x more durable for the field.

Very well made and fights above it's weight
The light is very compact, when folded. The grip about spans my hand. A small tag let's you know that you have to remove a plastic spacer under the battery cap, before charging or other use. You need to push and hold to turn on. The lowest setting reminds me of the D cell flashlights, of my youth, the next three get pretty bright, each change needs a quick push of the button. Full power will light a pretty fair path. You can also get a red emergency red light with a longer push and hold of the button, another short push gets a blinking red. I have larger more powerful lights, but this is becoming a quick favorite. The fit and finish is excellent, the point where the head rotates is almost invisible. I am impressed and highly recommend for a compact portable light. The only possible downside is the silicone handle, longevity unknown.

For the right purpose...
Well to start off - Definitely not 1800 lumen on high beam. It IS noticeably a bit brighter than my Streamlight Pro-Tac 2X-L 500 Lumen (see pic), but not 1300 lumen brighter..Quality is high.Functions as describes. Not a "fast action" light as the Streamlight is, so know the desired purpose you're purchasing for (delay when turning on, not instant on)Overall - Will serve nicely for the purpose I purchased 👍
